Developed eczema around the eyes. Anyone got any cures?

As the title says - I’ve randomly developed eczema around my eyes. Not something I’ve ever suffered with before. I’ve not changed products so I’m not sure what it might be. I’ve been using basic e45 which keeps the worst of it at bay but it’s not actually clearing up. Has anyone got any ideas?

How bad is it? I had an allergic reaction to dodgy mascara a few years ago and ended up needing steroid cream which was the only thing that worked. However, once the worst was gone - and actually in conjunction with the steroid - I used Avene eye cream and their water products to cleanse, it was incredible how soothing it was. It’s designed for really sore skin so doesn’t irritate it any further!

do you have cats?

Oh god, I have had a new/different mascara in the last few months. That hasn’t even occurred to me because it’s mainly just under the brow/ on the brow bone. Hmmm.

It’s not THAT bad - slightly stooped got sometimes and gets a bit red if I don’t regularly put e45 on. I hadn’t thought it warranted a trip to the dr but maybe I should?

Diprobase is an emollient that worked wonders for DS eczema around his eyes. You shouldn't really be putting any steroid creams around your eyes, the skin is too thin and there's a risk of causing damage.

Not saying you are using steroids bu the way, just advice we were given.

I would see what the dr says.

I had this recently partly as a result of hormonal changes during pregnancy (I got eczema on my hands, neck and arms too). My GP said a small amount of hydrocortisone 1% would be fine if applied v thinly and stopped as soon as the problem resolved, so I used that along with a lovely cooling white tea eye gel from Neals Yard, and it actually cleared up really quickly. Maybe check with your GP first though to be sure? Mine might have been a bit gung ho!

I've had similar and it's caused by having the radiator in my bedroom on at night, for some reason it dries my eyelids out. Switched the radiator off and my eyes were completely better within a week

My GP said the same Munstead - tbh mine was absolutely raw, she thought I’d need oral steroids for a while as well as the cream.

It might be worth a GP visit OP during a flare up of it and see what they suggest.
