Anybody else have shit skin?

My skin is so crappy at the minute. It's incredibly dull and just looks like it needs a boost or something to make it look a bit better! I also have blocked pores on my nose and chin that I can't seem to shift Sad

And the dark circles under the eyes.. I'm so self conscious about them that I'm considering getting tear trough filler. They're really bad.

I'm young, early 20s and I dread to think what I'll look like in another 20 years if I look like this now.

Anyone else know how I'm feeling? Ugh

I'm a chunk older than you, but yes! I really struggle to find products my skin approves of too. Hate it.

However, today I had a dermaplaning facial and, while it's early days, I feel like it could be a game changer. Might be worth a try?

Mintjulia · 31/01/2020 20:44

Vitamin D? exercise?

Go for a run, sweat the pores open and increase blood flow. Or steam the pores open in a sauna.

One of these usually does the trick for me.

I'm early thirties and think i'll just go for roaccutane soon. It's been years. They said i'd grow out of it. I took pills for it which killed my sex drive for over 10 years. I'm off them now but the skin is crap again. S'not fair.

ohfos · 31/01/2020 20:45

@Doodlekitty I have been considering dermaplaning. I actually bought some of the blades off Amazon and just had a go at it myself but it's not made much difference. Perhaps I should just pay someone who's properly trained and knows what they're doing, then maybe I might see some results!

Me. Its boring but you need to drink water.

ohfos · 31/01/2020 20:47

I have little bumps all over my cheeks. they're not noticeable at a distance but up close they are visible, and my skin feels really rough to touch. No idea how to get rid of them though!

@OhioOhioOhio I do drink water daily but not as much as what is recommended. Perhaps I will try this

Nooooo not dermablading, please don’t do that to your precious face!

What’s your skincare routine like at the moment? Maybe we can offer some suggestions for improvement.

@TheGreyInThisCity I wash my face twice daily. Use a glycolic toner occasionally. Apply Nivea after I've washed my face.

I will use pore strips or a face mask once or twice a week. That's it really

I'm mid twenties and the body shops drops of youth range has absolutely saved my skin!

The liquid peel that you rub into your face whilst dry actually shows you the dead skin in your hands as it peels off and the moisturiser is just lovely.

Been using for 2 years now and although not cheap, both items last me about 4 months so worth it.

My skin is clear and smooth and glowy, deffo worth a try! Well 90% of the time until period is due, skin goes dry and hormonal spots around chin!

ohfos · 31/01/2020 20:53

@CelebrityDave Might try that for my dark circles! Thanks for the tip

@elc19 That looks amazing! Now I really want to try it!

Bumps and rough to the touch sounds a bit like rosacea, maybe have a google and see if it looks like that? Because if it is rosacea something like a glycolic acid toner could be too harsh.

Generally for someone your age I would concentrate on hydration and exfoliation. You could use something like a facial mist and a hyaluronic acid serum under your moisturiser in the morning, and if you have blocked pores then maybe a BHA toner in the evening. Whatever you decide to do though the most important thing to protect your skin for the future is to find an SPF product you like and will use every day.

elc19 · 31/01/2020 20:59

Definitely try it! Been amazing for me and lots of friends are addicts since I recommended! X

I would definitely try a BHA toner, the Paula’s choice one pp mentioned is really good!

Apileofballyhoo · 02/02/2020 12:32

If you wear makeup or a good SPF it might be helpful to double cleanse at night.
