I’ve booked to have these. They aren’t for an occasion as such, I just want to try them out, however I don’t really plan on the upkeep of them, like having them regularly iukwim, would you say they are still suitable for me, or are they something you have to keep ‘topping’ up? I don’t think I’d be able to afford the upkeep of them, I understand they eventually fall out, do they look silly when they do if you don’t have them replaced? I’m a novice so I don’t know! I’m just going for some natural looking ones.

I just get them for holidays abroad. When they’re on their last legs there might be a few days of them looking a bit straggly before the last ones fall out but it’s probably not something anyone apart from me would even notice.

fellyjish · 30/01/2020 18:54

I had them for a bit and loved them. They say that they generally need maintenance every 3/4 weeks if you have a natural look where they'll replace ones that have fallen out etc.

Mine kept dropping though and pretty much all fell out in 2 weeks - I eventually gave up - the beautician thought that my real eyelashes weren't strong enough to hold them.

CelebrityDave - my appt is straight after I finish work so I have to go to work with no eye make up on 🙈 but I’m at an age where I don’t really care, I suppose I could wear some then wipe it off when I get there but I cba with the faff on.

I did have some done ages ago from a high st store, I really don’t think they were applied properly, it took 20 mins & they hurt after, felt very uncomfortable, I took them off after two days. Luckily my own eyelashes were ok. I was going to go for the lvl lift but the salon doesn’t do that anymore so I’m having extensions, I just want to look like I’m wearing make up as in any photo of me, it doesn’t! And my eyelids are really drooping, especially on one side so I’m hoping these will lift or disguise that a bit! Or just open my eyes up!

I love mine, but likewise I'm crap at the upkeep, I normally let them all drop out, wait a week then get another set

goodgodingovan · 30/01/2020 22:46

I've had them twice. Disappointed. They started falling out after a few days, looked odd after a week with gaps etc.
They weren't cheap either and took a long time to get on.

Missc2001 · 30/01/2020 22:52

Had them once and loved it! But too expensive for me. Was planning an infill at 3 weeks, but after 2 weeks I really needed it. Took them out myself as salon did not have appointment, next time I’d rather wait on salon to remove them as I really bruised my eyelids. I’d also have an infill after week 1 if I plan to keep it a while.

richele4 · 30/01/2020 22:57

Don't do it!
They take hours and your eyes ache after. If you sleep on your front (like me) then they fall out and you wake up with stray lashes on the pillow. Very expensive to maintain. Look silly after a week when half of them have fallen out and there are gaps.
This isn't just one bad experience! Have tried them a few times, all at different places with the same disappointing result.
Would recommend strip lashes. They might take a little practice but they are far easier and cheaper and they look better in my opinion

polkadotpj · 30/01/2020 23:00

I love mine. They last about 3 weeks then start to drop out so I have them infilled. I have white blonde lashes and still get them tinted and am happy not to have to worry about mascara. I go for a very natural look. I ask to look like I’ve got a great mascara!

NomadNoMore · 30/01/2020 23:06

I love mine but even after a six month break my lashes haven't recovered, they're now even shorter.

polkadotpj · 31/01/2020 07:23

Crikey really? I keep thinking I’ll take mine off but worried I’ll have none of my own!

DearHappy · 31/01/2020 07:26

I’ve had them but when they come off my eyelashes are really short and take weeks to get back to normal.

I've been having lashes for almost 3 years with a top up every 2 weeks.
When I took a break (years ago!) My eyelashes were really short, but that's because the lashes are attached and fall out with your natural eyelash, the extra weight I believe does make them fall out quicker, so when they come off you primarily have new baby shorter eyelashes, but within 6 weeks all is back to normal. I can't have longer than 10mm as any longer/heavier they fall out quicker.
I used to have silks because they were lighter until the lady I go to started using russian lashes and I get on really well with them.
Sometimes after 2 weeks I think I could probably go another week, other times they fall out much quicker. My hormones play a huge part in how quickly I shed eyelashes!
I've had tinting etc but nothing gives me the look these do and I wouldn't be without them.
No panda eyes at the end of the day, no worrying about crying during a film, I can go swimming and not have mascara smearing. Plus I get up, BB cream on, lip balm and I'm off :)

youvegottobekidding · 31/01/2020 22:10

You see, I’m a bit of an eye rubber myself, when I’m tired, so that’s one thing I’m going to have to stop! I don’t sleep on my front, I’m a side sleeper.

I have had them twice but never again.

My husband said I looked like a drag-queen. I did! (despite having the shortest ones they do).

I hate-hated the fact you can't rub your eyes or clean your face in the shower.

I have long, dark lashes anyway. I am better off using revitalash daily, And less scary.

CadburysTastesVileNow · 01/02/2020 10:30

I get on really well with LVL. Not as dramatic as extensions but lasts better and much more natural.

RuggyPeg · 01/02/2020 10:38

Lvl did absolutely nothing for me. I think you have to already have long, straight lashes for it to have any impact.

I've been having extensions for about 6 months now. All with different people (one closed, one moved, several let me down, some were crap). Thought I'd found someone great recently but on the 2nd infill appointment, she glued on loads of extra ones and made a right mess and they're pulling off all my own eyelashes as well. Am fuming at her. I've bought some rapid lash and once the remaining stragglers come off, I'm going to have a break from them for a while and let my own lashes recover.

Sidge · 01/02/2020 10:44

I love my lashes.

I’ve got very short, very blonde lashes naturally and had been having them tinted for nearly 30 years. I still needed mascara for volume and length though.

I had some done for an event and liked the way they looked but they felt crunchy and fell out quickly. I then had them done a year later by someone recommended to me and she is a genius. No crunchiness, she mixes lengths to get a great effect and they last 2-3 weeks. They’d last longer if my own lashes were longer I think.

I still wash my face in the shower and love the fact I don’t need to worry about smeary mascara etc.

hotcrossbun4321 · 01/02/2020 11:23

I love getting mine done. I've just got them done a few times for special occasions and let them fall out. I currently have the dregs of my christmas lashes in so they look a bit crap. I sleep with a padded eye mask to keep them from falling out when I sleep on my front. First 2 times they fell out quite quickly, but 3rd time I went to a different place and they lasted much better, so it's worth shopping around.

DearHappy · 01/02/2020 11:33

I had them done once and they were lovely but when I went back for infills a different person did them and they were really over the top and I looked ridiculous.

youvegottobekidding · 01/02/2020 21:50

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

I’ve decided not to have them done. Like I said before I do tend to rub my eyes a lot at the end of the day & lately, my eye, well the corner of one of them has been a bit itchy, it looks fine but I’m not chancing it.

OP posts:
BlackSwan · 01/02/2020 22:26

Think you’ve made a good decision. I tried them once, they looked beautiful but took forever to do and when they started looking sparse I stupidly applied mascara to them...big mistake: despite careful makeup removal I got a nasty eye infection. I’ve used Latisse ever since - grows your own lashes nice and long

TippledPink · 01/02/2020 22:34

I have worn them constantly for the past 4 years, having them topped up every other week. I had to take them off a week ago for the first time as I had laser eye surgery and hate being without them!

They haven't wrecked my natural lashes and I still have loads. I can also wash my face in the shower with no problem.

I have to wait another 7 weeks until I can get them back.

I would at least try them and see how you get on.

Pinkyyy · 01/02/2020 22:39

They look absolutely awful when they start to fall out anyway OP. I too am a side sleeper and an eye rubber and you just end up with wonky lashes, sticking up in all directions and big gaps in between.
