Accessorize gold-plated jewellery - is it rubbish?

I’ve spied some pretty, delicate looking gold-plated necklaces (I think in their “Z” range) for about £15 but I’ve never really had anything gold-plated before. Is the plating likely to wear off after two or three wears, or does it last for a decent while?

I buy quite a lot of jewellery from Accessorize, it lasts a good couple of years IMO.

I like their Z range and have bought it before. It lasts well IMO. I never pay full price though, I tend to try and pick up pieces in the sale.

I have some of their sterling silver gold plated jewellery (necklaces, earrings, a bracelet) & the plating has lasted.

Sadly I can't afford real gold.

I also have 2 pairs of sterling silver rose gold plated earrings from Debenhams which have lasted for a long time.

I have a Z range necklace which hasn’t tarnished, been several years. I’ve had cheaper ones too, say £5-8 and they do lose their gold look quite quickly

I bought a Z range necklace in the 70% off sale at the weekend - it cost about £4. We'll see how it wears, but it looks lovely and not at all cheap and tacky.

Now I think about it, I do have some gold plated sterling silver earrings, including a pair from TK Maxx that I've had for about a year and probably worn at least twice a week since buying them, usually more as they go with everything, and they look as good as new.
