My mum is wonderful. She's in phenomenal shape (owns exercise studio) but lately she keeps saying how sad she is about the aging process with regards to her face. She is mid50s and id love to get her some luxurious products for mothers day to give her a boost.

I'd love your recommendations.

I'm not far off and love Clarins Blue Orchid facial oil.

That’s a lovely idea. I’m 53, realistically you can’t do much about the ageing process except slow it down (not reverse it, unless you have “work” done), sunscreen is vital. I like la Roche posay sunscreen products .
A good boost for me is a luxurious lipstick. IMO the Chanel ones are amongst the best, they manage to have depth of colour and be moisturising. A lovely bath oil might be good. I love ESPA.

I’m older than your Mum and consider facial oils essential
I’ve tried them all and am currently using an Aesop one which makes my face look fresh and gooey
Good moisturiser needed too, particularly under foundation

Nanasueathome · 28/01/2020 20:03

Fresh and glowy that should say...stupid autocorrect

damnthatanxiety · 28/01/2020 20:04

Sunday Riley's A+ retinol and Good Genes. Alternate them in the evening. Then a good vitamin C serum in the morning under moisturiser. Almost every brand dies Vit C. It just depends on your price point. Even The Ordinary Vit Cs are not bad. There are better but TO is very inexpensive.

Can't recommend you products but I can recommend Nadine Baggotts Youtube channel, she is late 50s and her knowledge and expertise on skincare for all needs is second to none.

I would recommend skin oils too.

One I really liked was the AD Skin synergy which is great quality and really good value if you buy from QVC - it really is good

The other ones that are nice are from Neals yard

For elemis I’d go to a counter as they have added new products

One which is a nice combination of oil and serum is the Sarah chapman overnight facial and it has retinol too

I would also recommend Alpha H Rose Liquid Gold. It’s a liquid exfoliant which you just wipe over your face 3 time a week pm.
I would recommend using an SPF30+ during the dat when using these.

For body care Rituals is really nice and again I would go in to store to see what you like

Ohhh one more thing - a luxurious balm cleanser - either Emma Hardie moringa balm or the elemis one is also divine

Let us know what you bought and whether she liked it or not

doadeer · 28/01/2020 22:47

Thanks so much everyone. I'm a big beauty fan myself - I use lots of espa, rituals, the ordinary plus I had the space nk advent calendar this year so I'm awash with fancy things I just want to make sure I'm getting her something that will make her feel special x

Look Fabulous Forever is worth a look - make up and skincare for older women with good blog and videos. I find the owner very inspiring.

whataboutbob · 29/01/2020 18:06

Also there’s a website/ blog called That’s not My Age, worth a look for style ideas and generally positive outlook.
