Is there a technique to using dry shampoo?

I have tried it a few times and never really noticed anything except a claggy feel and a smell I don't like.

Am I doing it wrong?

I need to have smarter hair for work, I manage nice freshly washed on one or two but not always the third.

How do I do it properly?

I only ever use Batiste. The other brands don't seem to work as well. I use a bristle brush to make sure its brushed out properly.
If I'm honest I don't like the way it feels on my head but its either that or a greaseball head. Of course I could wash my hair but I find it a pain some mornings if I'm in a hurry.

It always feels minging.

The lush powder is good, sprinkle on, brush through with fingers and then brush with a brush.

I agree it’s either itchy dry shampoo head or oil slick for me- I suffer the itch! I’ve found the ones that are for your hair colour leave a less noticeable grainy / grey feeling.

I love the stuff, also only Batiste, use it several days a week (I wash roughly alternate days) separate hair so you can see the roots, spray from a bit of a distance only the roots, move to next section all the way around. Rub into roots with hands and then brush out. A quick once over with a hairdryer helps too but I rarely bother.

I have very dark hair. No amount of brushing stops me looking like I'm going grey. Am I missing something too?

CatMamma · 27/01/2020 22:02

You're supposed to do it the night before ;)

dun1urkin · 27/01/2020 22:07

Yep doing it the night before works really well

OhNoMyCheds · 27/01/2020 22:10

You can use talc instead. Just sprinkle, massage and brush.

anothernewone · 27/01/2020 22:11

The got2be one is even better than Batiste! Part, spray, repeat, give it a good rub and you're done! I only wash once a week and do this on day 3 5 and 6

kittykatkitty · 27/01/2020 22:21

Use it the night before. Not in the morning.

Lionsleepstonight · 27/01/2020 22:21

Batiste for me too, but only the original. I used it even with dark hair. Shot sprays not too close and a good brush through.

PullingMySocksUp · 27/01/2020 22:25

I use dark brown Batiste otherwise you can see it.
Put it in. Leave it a minute, tousle hair.

Fedupwithmyhouse · 27/01/2020 22:26

I like tne lush powder one

fedup21 · 27/01/2020 22:27

Spray it on, leave it a minute, rub it in with your fingers and then give it a blast with the hairdryer!

Pollaidh · 27/01/2020 22:32

Klorane is good. Make sure you don't hold it too near your head.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 27/01/2020 22:41

brush hair and then I put my hands through, lifting it up, spraying along the roots and letting each finger section fall in turn

do other side,do parting then hang upsidedown and floofle hands through hair, stand up straight and let it fall...this gets rid of any excess deposits, and just run hands through to settle it back into style

My hair is very fine and straight, I have an asymmetrical long pixie not quite bob, but it is quite light with plenty of grey so I guess that I am not going to be so aware of the dusty looks as a brunette

I really liked the blonde version that Batiste did but haven't seen that about for a while...I also only use batiste....I have tried others but they seemed heavy, hairspraying and chemically and felt even weirder than the batiste.

TitchyP · 27/01/2020 22:59

Lidl own brand dry shampoo is much better than Batiste. Less claggy and smells better!

Fridaysgirl · 28/01/2020 06:51

Jeezzzz
After I've done all that- parted hair, hung upside down, massaged and used the hair dryer the night before- I think I might just WASH my hair Smile

WhatWouldPennyDo · 28/01/2020 08:48

I brush mine, spray into roots and hairline section by section, leave whilst I do my teeth, run fingers through my hair and then brush it. I put a spritz of dry shampoo on my brush too.

Remember to wash your hands. Definitely don’t touch your dark coloured clothing until you have...

Branleuse · 28/01/2020 08:50

Batiste is the only one that makes a visible difference.
Still makes it feel a bit claggy, but it looks visibly better in an emergency. Other brands dont work at all. Even expensive ones
