How do I beat the shine??

My face is a slippy shiny mess by mid morning with make up sliding everywhere!!!

Can anyone recommend any bases, powders ANYTHING (I am willing to invest in good products)

I currently do use a powder then put my bronzer on top. I worry if I top up with powder through the day I will end up paler again. Currently use a soap and glory blurring base which looks lovely when it first goes on but obviously isn't up ti the mattifying job...

You need to get some blotting sheets 😊. I like the clear and simple ones.

B vitamin supplements really help my oiliness, as well as using freederm gel instead of primer. Body shop seaweed range is good. As is Origins zero oil.

Dr Hauschka normalizing oil. It will actually balance your skin, not just deal with the symptoms.

Your skin may be dehydrated, mine was and the oiliness has really improved since I started moisturising more. I use Alpha H essential hydration cream (you can find it much cheaper on Ebay), and Superdrug simply pure hydrating night serum. Rosehip oil is also good for balancing. I've just discovered Elf poreless putty primer and it's really good too.
Hope you find something that helps 🙂

Urban Decay All Nighter fixing spray, or in the same range, their face powder.

I think you’ll have to look at both skincare and makeup. If you use skincare products that make your skin oily (because they aren’t right for your skin or are too harsh), then primers and makeup will not help anything.

Which products are you currently using?

I use the Mill makeup blur stick during the day. It's a silicone based cream (not heavy at all!) which takes down shine without powder which can look heavy and unnatural Grin

Brand name should be 'Milk Makeup'! It's on cult beauty www.cultbeauty.co.uk/milk-makeup-blur-stick-.html

Do you wash your face properly OP? I found when I started using a Cerave face wash with salicylic acid in it, twice a day and really massaging the product in for a full minute at a time, rinsing off and then using a light moisturiser, drastically reduced my greasiness. That's even with a full face of make up on.

Wavingwhiledrowning · 28/01/2020 20:26

A couple of decades of this exact problem and I've cracked it. Garnier Pure Active face was, and the matte control moisturiser is amazing. And then rimmel clear complexion pressed powder to set your makeup.
I used to have such issues with shiny skin - it even used to make my mascara smudge everywhere. Now I can go a whole day without an issue. I also carry little blotting sheets for emergencies, but I rarely need them.

A few drops of niacinamide serum under your moisturiser will solve this.

Thanks for all the responses

I currently use jojoba oil to wash (as someone advised that that helps balance natural oils) then the nip n fab glycolic pads followed by a vitamin e moisturiser.

I use the soap and glory blurring primer if I am wearing make up. I will need ot have a look into all your wonderful suggestions
