Allergy free earrings?

I have mega sensitive ears.

But I want to wear big hoops.

Regular shop-bought ones make my ears ache like hell.

I bought some from Solace Jewellery, which were considerably better, but still hurt a bit.

Where can I find nice biiiig hoops that won't mess my ears up for days after a short period of wearing?

I’m not sure about fashion jewellery but find that platinum earrings don’t bother my ears whereas costume jewellery or even gold don’t tend to work.

I gave up wearing ear rings years ago because I was allergic to all metals I tried. Fine with plastic, but that's not so good once the 80s were over Grin I really want to get my ears pierced again and have another go.

I suspect I'd be ok with platinum as my rings are plain and give me no trouble. I've heard that titanium is very good, and there seem to be loads of titanium ear rings out there that cost significantly less than platinum!

I had the same problem until recently. M&S have recently made all their earrings "skin friendly". I bought a couple of cheap pairs in the January sale to see how they were and my ears have been fine so I've stocked up on a load of new earrings, including big hoops

You could try this site Not sure if the hoops will be big enough though. Largest I could see were about a 40mm diameter made of niobium.

Also, LlamaofDrama, They have a lot of choices, plastic and metal. My DD has tried titanium, niobium and plastic and all have been brilliant. Really helped her when her ears just wouldn't heal for months after being pierced.

Looks like I could need to pluck up my courage and do it then! Not just me, will need DHs courage as well because if I don't need carrying in I will certainly need carrying out Shock

I had my very very sensitive ears re pierced here after letting them close up as they were sore
One year later no problem
www.lovehatesocialclub.com/
It’s in Notting Hill London

The staff were lovely

Titanium should be ok, try a piercing shop if you can’t find them elsewhere.

I second M&S. I normally wear gold or silver, but I read about their new promise and took a chance on some £5 bar earrings. Zero problems Smile

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 01/02/2020 23:02

M&S had some big hoops in store

clippityclop · 01/02/2020 23:03

Next & Monsoon/Accessories also do nickel free stuff.

If you just want cheap ones try painting the bits that go near your ears with clear nail varnish - it should create a barrier between your skin & the metal
