Eyebrows

I'm 33, and am pretty invested in my 'style and beauty': I get regular cut and colours, invested in a skincare routine, wear nice make up, capsule wardrobe, nails done every 2.5wks. However, there is one aspect of beauty that gives me the fear.

EYEBROWS

Other than pluck the odd stray, I do nothing.

Everyone seems to have a much more styled brow. Do I need to be thinking about this? How would I even go about starting? And do you 'do' your brows daily?

Could you post a photo of your natural brows?

Would be easier to suggest things you could do to them, or they might need nothing at all

Thestrangestthing · 26/01/2020 09:22

Pic?

Yes! Well groomed eyebrows really do frame your face.

What's your shape and eveness like?

If their good - a 4-6 week threading appointment can make them seems well groomed (take away fluffy hairs etc, tweak the shape if needs be). An eyebrow tint can really make them pop and save time filling. Finally find a good brow gel - sali Hughes article this weekend was her brow gel recs.

If they are more sparse, uneven or wrong size and shape for your face due to plucking then theres lots you can do. Start by getting someone to thread them so that they are best for your face. Try to work on growing back any sparse or over plucked areas. Sometimes they won't but your need to try this. Start using brow pencil or powder to fill in sparse or uneven areas. Brow gel to keep in place.

If after growing back/filling in you are still not happy - research microblading.

I have a chemical exfoliating mask on right now but this is my face with make up but no eyebrow attention.

You have really nice brows, you could add some pencil to darken up any light bits but they look lovely as they are and you look way younger than 33!

Lamentations · 26/01/2020 09:42

I love natural brows. I can understand people who fill in or microblade where they have little of their own to work with but otherwise 'done' brows never look as good as natural. It's a trend we will look back at and laugh I think. You have lovely ones, keeping them free from stragglers is all you need.

kmini · 26/01/2020 09:48

They look great. If you are a purest maybe could be a little closer together but not a problem. Eyebrow gel and regular threading for fluffy hairs should be more than enough

Thestrangestthing · 26/01/2020 10:37

I would get the shaped if you don't want to do it yourself. They won't need much, just a tidy up and fill in the gaps with a pencil. I use a soap and glory one, it has gel on the end. It's good for just a little bit of infil

Pcosmama · 26/01/2020 14:30

They look pretty good to me! I would maybe just lightly pencil (in upward strokes) any lighter bits as pp have said and use an eyebrow gel (like mascara for your eyebrows) to enhance them. They really don't need very much attention at all.

I however, have only one eyebrow as one (ONLY ONE OF THEM) has dropped out post partum 😂

simbobs · 26/01/2020 14:45

Leave them as they are. The eyebrow thing is one trend I hope will go away. I find myself staring at girls with chunky dark waxy lines on their faces and think "why??!!". Most women can get away with a lick of clear brow gel, or just fill in a little with a pencil. Instagram is trying to convince us that is not groomed enough, but I see before and after pics advertising microblading and always think the before looked better.

Isitreally77 · 26/01/2020 15:06

I use eye shadow on my eyebrows, can't remember where I saw it but it was recommended as it is less harsh. I unfortunately have a scar on my left eyebrow so it will never match my right and I have a mono brow (and very thick one too) if I don't pluck. My eyebrows frustrate me so much, I would love to have your eyebrows OP.

FuckingHateRats · 26/01/2020 16:03

Thanks all! I'm going to book in for a threading/shaping and then just get a decent pencil and gel to experiment.

I am eyebrow obsessed and mine would be immense and slug like if I didn't deal with them. But I try and keep it as natural as poss. Personally the overstyled and overly large eyebrows that lots of reality stars favour -look appalling imo.
Yours, honestly look great and I would approach with caution. Try filling them in with a soft brown eyebrow pencil where/ if needed. But don't do anything drastic or you risk looking permanently startled.
I would only see a technician or threader personally recommended and be super clear what you want.
Honestly, I would do very little they look great as they are

ItsMischerWavy · 26/01/2020 19:20

Your brows look great.....but If you want to try a pencil have a look at benefit goof proof, I swear by it. It has lots of shades, is so easy to blend, stays put and your eyebrows stay natural looking!
