Invisalign

Has anyone used invisalign before ? I like the idea of it but i'm wondering if it's for more minor cases. I have an overbite, a large gap in between my teeth etc. And more of a 'severe' case, not sure if invisalign would work for this ?

You’d have to see an orthodontist for an exam, but generally speaking braces are better for severe issues

BunnytheBlueWhale · 25/01/2020 21:25

I’m thinking of getting Invisalign or Smile Club aligners which are essentially Invisalign but everything is done and sent to you in the post so it costs a lot less.

If you look up Smile Club it will tell you your local office. I went in and they 3D scanned my teeth and then they send you your plan so you know exactly how long it will take and you see a 3D image of the end result.

I’ve made an appointment to see an orthodontist too so I can make an informed decision

Also not sure what you mean by “severe”

Phoenixxx · 25/01/2020 21:29

Thanks a lot, i'll look at smile club !
Just a large overbite, a massive gap in between my two front teeth, very crooked and overcrowded bottom arch, they're just awful :/

I’d just go for train tracks. I believe they work much more quickly.

morrisseysquif · 25/01/2020 21:32

I would get properly assessed, I'm planning on a brace but have been told I'm not suitable for invisalign.

BunnytheBlueWhale · 25/01/2020 21:37

I don’t know if Smile Club fixes and overbite, not sure. Invisalign might. I think it’s a difference of £1500 for Smile Club and maybe £4000 for Invisalign (haven’t got mh quote yet)

I had braces as a teen so has overbite dealt with them but a couple of teeth one one side (too and bottom) are quite crooked

It’s exciting though OP! I’m genuinely excited about having nice teeth!

Here is a link

I’ve got a code because I’ve been in for consultation etc

fbuy.me/oAC1x

It’s worth going in if you’ve got a place near you as you get to see a full impression and you get some goodies for going in like an amazon voucher, lip balm and teeth whitening light kit...

If you don’t have one near you, you can do impressions at home... but that seems like a faff to me!

I’d be interested to know how you get on.

I’ll go with Invisalign if it’s not much more expensive but I worth it will be £4-5k

Phoenixxx · 25/01/2020 22:01

I've just made an appointment for smile direct club, they quote £120 per month and a deposit of £199 which seems reason able compared to braces.
I can live with the overbite, it's mainly having straight teeth and getting rid of the enormous gap, hoping it will improve my lisp too. It's not a massive one but i'm still self conscious about it.

I've also made an appointment for traditional braces, but will have to see the cost. I know looks aren't everything but my teeth really get me down ! I've had so many comments like, "You'd be so pretty if you fixed your teeth" etc. I know it doesn't matter what people say, but I feel so self conscious and want them fixed.

OP posts:
BunnytheBlueWhale · 25/01/2020 22:05

Yeah for me it’s more about teeth being straight where you can see them. I’d love not to be self conscious about my teeth. Good luck with it!

As it is, I have to wait as I randomly got an abscess in my bottom front tooth before Christmas and had to have root canal so the dentist suggested waiting 3 months but I plan to see the orthodontist in the meantime.

Smile direct is a really good price though and there are some helpful videos on YouTube with reviews and showing you the full journey.

Phoenixxx · 25/01/2020 22:08

Thank you ! I really hope it will work, stupidly I bought some sort of £30 aligner on the internet but don't trust it at all !
That's a shame you have to wait but if you can speak to someone in the meantime that would be great.
I'll keep you updated ! Good luck too :)

Oh haven’t seen anything like that!

Yeah 3 months should pass in no time and then hopefully I’ll get them go-ahead too

🙂

Phoenixxx · 25/01/2020 22:21

Yeah there is 'HappyBrace' 'Looshie' and 'smilint'. I'm sure they do cause some kind of movement but I feel like if it really were that easy everyone would be buying them !

OP posts:
BunnytheBlueWhale · 25/01/2020 22:26

Oh that’s a bit different. Hadn’t come across those. I don’t feel sold on it “tbh” 😬😂🙈

Not sure how often you have to wear those either but I assume you can see them. The Invisalign and smile direct kind are supposed to be invisible so I feel a bit better about that at my age (mind-30s)!

Phoenixxx · 25/01/2020 22:32

Haha yeah I think they are best avoided. Just bought one in desperation when I was skint 😁 they look like mouth guards, you can't speak with them in and they made me gag a little 😅

OP posts:
BunnytheBlueWhale · 25/01/2020 22:33

Oh no! 😂🤦‍♀️

Cuddling57 · 11/04/2020 10:30

OP can I ask for an update?
Just realised my 15 year old needs braces for bottom teeth overcrowding (he has grown a lot in the last years since last dentist appointment) and obviously can't get a dental app now or in near future. Just discovered Smile Club on the internet.

Chicinwellies · 11/04/2020 15:05

I’m month 4 into invisalign and it’s been totally brilliant. I had train tracks and the key brace and many other contraptions as a child, and slowly into my 30s my front teeth started going back to their poor shape. So, I went for my consultation and quickly signed up. The results have been quick, I’ve only got two months left, no complaints problems or negatives. Top teeth only £1200 all in. Highly recommend.
