Best body moisturiser

Help! I’ve never needed to use moisturiser on my body before. But since having ds2 3 months ago, my skin feels parched! I’ve been using some baby lotion that we were given, but it’s running out fast and hasn’t been doing a great job.
I’ve no idea what I need or where to start looking. I use Lidl face cream & am pretty low maintenance in general. I’m 40 next week and my skin has always been soft until now.
Can anyone recommend anything? I’m currently on maternity leave, so limited budget. TIA.

I love Nivea for a cheap everyday one, but Body Shop body butters are my absolute favourite!

hiphiphoorayback · 25/01/2020 14:46

Cevare

lin07 · 25/01/2020 14:51

If you have enough time, try olive oil and then top up with Nivea. My friend is using that since she was young, her DM as well and both their skin are amazing!

I'm not a fan of moisturiser as I find it a bit greasy and time consuming (I'm very lazy and have a toddler) but I use the Avon skin so soft spray. Works well, smells nice and I just spritz myself once I've dried off after a shower. Its dry in seconds.

Great ideas, thanks. I’m boycotting the body shop as the seem to be running an mlm in this area, with a million “at home” boss lady bots.
Will try some nivea I think

Avene is great. I love Palmers cocoa butter but not a fan of the smell - even the unperfumed one

Aprilcherry04 · 27/01/2020 18:26

Aveeno

Gotobloodysleep · 27/01/2020 18:31

Aveeno. Started using it for dc's skin and have now adopted for myself.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 27/01/2020 18:31

Lush do nice body butters and lotions.
I love soap and glory body butter, Nivea, vaseline body lotion, palmers cocoa butter. Theres loads it just depends what suits your skin and your budget. Lots of companies do in shower moisturisers too that you apply then wash off whilst in the shower, I also enjoyed using some nuxe dry oil i got In a glossybox on wet skin, felt so soft afterwards.

It annoys me body shop have an mlm arm, I love their products but I feel conflicted about using them.

Khione · 27/01/2020 18:49

I get this
amazon.co.uk/s?k=childs+farm+moisturiser&crid=325VGM6FE24JF&sprefix=childs%2Caps%2C205&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_5_6 body lotion]]

It's absorbs easily, it doesn't cause any irritation (can use it on babies) it's cruelty free and it's very very cheap, so even though I'm on a tight budget I don't need to scrimp with it or limit how much I use it.

I use the unscented one but for some reason that's on a very slow (28 day) delivery - I get automatic delivery every 3 months so no issue for me, but the scented one is the same price and still hypoallergenic.

Has very good reviews too

The most moisturising body lotion I’ve ever had is Dream Cream by Lush, but I know the smell can be a bit divisive . For me it’s a summer essential - because I get sunburnt so easily and it’s so rich.

For cheaper and more every day I enjoy Johnson’s baby lotion, I mostly like the smell.

ThursdayLastWeek · 27/01/2020 18:51

Or any oil straight on wet skin after a shower. Low maintenance and not too expensive.

nothingwittyhere · 27/01/2020 19:41

Neutrogena do two great, cheap non-greasy body moisturisers:
Norwegian Balm
Hydro Boost Balm
Both often on special offer.

PenOrPencil · 27/01/2020 19:46

Nivea do an in-shower moisturiser. Easy peasy.

Aridane · 27/01/2020 19:56

Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter - from memory, it's just olive oil, camomile and something else (like lavender)

it's a solid butter but which melts when you apply it

cattaxi · 27/01/2020 20:01

Thanks you all! Loads to try.
@Khione I was given a child’s farm gift set for the baby, I’ll definitely check out what I can pinch from that!
I used the dregs from a pot of coconut oil this morning @thursdaylastweek, so another good shout.

Ohh, that sounds lovely @Aridane - Will definitely check it out.

I find plain old Sorbolene cream does the job for me. However, it is a boring smell so I add a squirt of Payot Hydration Corps 24 with it which smells lovely but is bloody expensive (birthday present) to get a light scent to the Sorbolene.

ReginaGeorgeous · 27/01/2020 21:04

I've got a baby too and sometimes nick a bit of his Child's Farm moisturiser, it's lovely.

I also like Soap and Glory's Righteous Butter, it's frequently on offer in Boots and smells lovely.

BestIsWest · 27/01/2020 21:13

DM is 82 and has the most amazing skin on her arms and legs. Really beautiful. She swears by Vaseline Intensive Care (yellow bottle). Applies it every morning.

BolloxtoGender · 27/01/2020 21:21

A Reno is the best I have tried.

BolloxtoGender · 27/01/2020 21:21

Aveeno!

Muminabun · 27/01/2020 21:40

Superdrug vitamin e range and the e45 range are both budget friendly and regularly on offer plus come in big sizes.
