Plastic surgery (face) Advice needed

Can anyone recommend a good plastic surgeon for facial transformations?

I'm absolutely petrified at the thought of it, but I'm feeling so down about the way I look. I don't know what else to do.

I've always thought of myself as "average" looking (slightly lower maybe) but in more recent years i've started to hate the way I look.

My jaw is wide.
I have no chin. And a huge overbite.

So as I've got older (I'm 38) my face looks like a shapeless rectangle. And "droopy" I guess.

I'm not even sure what I'd need exactly as I don't think a "lift" would help? or if it's even fixable at all?

Would they have to break my jaw etc

I know nobody here can advise on that without seeing pics but...

Has anyone had any significant work done to their face?
How did it go? and which surgery practice did you use as i would like a recommendation for a consultation

Is there anyone with similar face shape who has had surgery to help?

I am grateful for any advice

Thank you

Would braces help with the overbite?

BrownStripePJ · 22/01/2020 21:49

I had braces when I was a kid but I think it's more to do with my jaw shape.

Even if i had braces now I don't think The top and bottom teeth would meet

I asked my dentist 2 years ago and they said braces wouldn't help.

But maybe i could get a 2nd opinion

i didnt go major but had eye bag removal, and facial laser resurfacing in london with dr de Souza. not the cheapest but I felt very safe and well looked after. great aftercare etc too . lots of pictures on his instagram for ideas of his work.

BrownStripePJ · 22/01/2020 21:57

Perhaps look at non surgical jaw reduction- botox is used to decrease masseter muscles - can make a big difference.

Chin implant for receded chin isnt hugely invasive and can have great effects. I believe it can be done under local anaesthetic plus sedation too.

Someone will be along soon with the Roald Dahl quote though Hmm

BrownStripePJ · 22/01/2020 22:07

That's great thanks @gypsywater i didn't know botox could help.

Thank you

I'm not familiar with "the" roald Dahl quote

Is it this one ...

"You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely."
Wink

Well I also have a big nose and NO good thoughts at all so I am totally fucked Grin

I have no experience with facial surgery but am in 4 days recovery from breast plastic surgery.I came on to say that if you truly feel unhappy with how you look then go for whatever makes you happy. Its so important to do your research, find out the top qualifications you can get in plastic facial surgery and start researching surgeons based on those, that's what I did.
You usually get brilliant aftercare when you go private. If you are in the North I would be happy to give you details of the hospital I used.

TheYearOfTheDog · 22/01/2020 22:20

I am not sure I can picture what the issue is but would a chin implant be an idea?

Freshnewus · 22/01/2020 22:32

Could you consider non surgical options? Or a combination of the two?
It's hard to recommend without seeing a photo. Feel free to pop over over to my inbox and I might be able to recommend some options.

Go for a consultation at a centre of excellence for plastic surgery NHS and private in one place. I'd recommend Queen Victoria hospital East Grinstead (I worked there as a nurse in burns and plastics for years) and see a maxillary facial surgeon. It's worth the travel.

I had a facelift and eye bag removal with Mr Karidis in St John's Wood. I didn't have any work done on my bone structure so I can't comment on whether he would be able to help you with your jaw. His wife is a dentist though, so he may be able to make suggestions.

I found him to be very honest, and he did not do any 'upselling' at all. He went to great lengths to ensure that I understood what the procedures entailed, and that I really wanted to go through with them. I am very happy with the results. However, facial surgery is a serious operation and the recovery can be unpleasant in the short term so it is not something to be undertaken lightly.

It sounds as though you could benefit from having a consultation from a plastic surgeon to see what your options are. Feel free to PM me if you would like to ask me more about my experience with surgery.
