If you were me, what would your ten minute morning makeup routine be?

On maternity leave, and after a period of ill-health spent in pyjamas I'm keen to get back to myself. I have tons of makeup sitting in the drawer, but wanting a bit of a revamp to suit my new life.

So... if you only have 5-10 mins, and you need to keep things baby-appropriate, what do you do in terms of hair and makeup in the morning?

(I'm pale, NW15, with dark wavy hair which tends towards frizz.)

I'm useless with hair Grin
Makeup - depends what you want to focus on but for me I would do
BB cream/concealer
Blush
Eyebrows
One eyeshadow (cream/stick)
Maybe some liner
Mascara
Lip balm

QforCucumber · 22/01/2020 13:10

Hair gets blow dried at night so just needs a loose bun or a half up clip on a morning.
I have 10 mins for Makeup - I do primer, foundation, blush and mascara.

blueskiesbrighteyes · 22/01/2020 13:12

With my 9 month old my routine is: cleanse: moisturise, mascara, liquid eye liner, touché eclat under eyes, hair in a bun or tied up...good to go!

ToftheB · 22/01/2020 13:54

I'm at home with two little ones. Some days I don't bother with makeup, but I always feel a bit more confident and competent when I do. My very minimal routine is:
Hair up in a bun (it's shoulder length and curly, not much can be done with it).
Wash face with nice moisturising cleanser.
Tinted moisturiser (I love the beauty pie one, but there are loads of good ones).
Eyebrows with a wind up pencil effort.
Mascara
Blusher/highlighter in one to brighten me up a bit
Tinted lip balm in the pocket of every coat/jacket for when I get out.

Just enough to make me look less washed out and tired, and only takes 3 minutes.

youngestisapsycho · 22/01/2020 14:30

Cleanse, moisturise, then I use Erborian CC cream, Bare Minerals foundation powder, mascara and eyebrow pencil to fill in the big gap I have in one eyebrow from a scar!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 22/01/2020 14:35

Product applied to hair after washing to stop it going frizzy. Allow to dry naturally. Aveda ones are good if you can run to that, but I believe Boots do a pink Curl Creme which is highly rated. Moisturise, leave a while to soak in, then concealer or small amount of foundation. Eye liner, then eyelash curlers, and mascara. Lippie only if going out. Lipcote to fix.

@blueskiesbrighteyes Liquid eyeliner and a nine month old? Hero!

Haha it's the only thing that makes me look alive!

TipseyTorvey · 22/01/2020 15:24

I do hair and makeup in 15 mins daily now. Hair is always up in a twisted side plait. Make up is foundation on with a stipple brush. Powder, blush, eye liner on upper lip, mascara, eye brow mascara, one light brown gold eye shadow. Lip gloss in the car. Have got it so quick now I barely notice. Was frightened by a recent post where a woman was taking an hour and a half!

Miseryisabutterfly · 22/01/2020 15:27

If you feel as though you need foundation get a compact one! Saves me so much time. I use Vichy dermablend, a little goes a long way. My makeup routine takes about 10 minutes and consists of primer, compact foundation, translucent powder, benefit bronzer- swish on forehead too, mascara and benefit gimme brow. Lip balm too.

Miseryisabutterfly · 22/01/2020 15:28

Also dry shampoo and elnett hairspray give my hair a quick boost and leave it shiny!

inwood · 22/01/2020 16:27

I do my hair in the evening.

B.B. cream
Concealer
Mascara

Takes about two minutes in the morning.

I'm low maintenance!

TantricTwist · 22/01/2020 16:51

I do my make up as soon as I get into work or in my car still having cleansed and applied moisturiser before leaving home which is micellar water, eye cream and a light moisturiser.

I apply Foundation, powder, mascara and lipstick (which I can also use as eye shadow and blush, but invariably never do)

At home with more time I'd apply bronzer (contour), highlighter, eyeliner, a couple of eyeshadow shades for definition and blusher and lipliner.

I used to take my large make up vanity case and do my make up in the car first thing in the morning once I'd arrived at work but I don't bother with that any more although it was handy having everything to hand incl my brushes as I was afraid esp in the summer that the heat would ruin my make up.

TantricTwist · 22/01/2020 16:53

Luckily as I have very bushy eyebrows, which I have threaded, there's no need to do them. I can imagine though that they can take a long time to get right if it's something you need to do.

onemouseplace · 22/01/2020 16:59

I use a tinted SPF (Neotrata) which is brilliant and gives me enough natural coverage that I can do without a base on top, unless I fancy it. Then concealer as appropriate.

I have also rediscovered bronzer and it has made a massive difference to how alive I look. That, and a bit of mascara and I'm good to go.

Hair I wash every 3 days, and if I straighten it the first day it can be left down, then put up in a ponytail/ messy bun the second couple of days.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/01/2020 20:45

I do makeup in less than ten minutes, but do have to wash and dry/straighten my hair every morning.

Makeup is:

Smashbox primer
YSL foundation lightly applied with brush
Hourglass blusher
Nude eyeshadow, usually MAC
Curl eyelashes
Mascara - MAC again
By Terry setting powder
Either Guerlain Meteorites or Hourglass ambient powder swiped about
Lipstick after brushing teeth, just as I go out the door, always red!

NYnachos · 22/01/2020 23:40

I use compact foundation (max factor miracle touch), mascara & lip balm. I have my hair in a short bob that I just blast with the hair dryer.

Anything else is too much effort

Piper1985 · 23/01/2020 09:49

I have two baby's but I wash and blow dry my hair at night when they are in bed and put a tiny bit of fake tan on my face and neck..just for a little glow to my skin.....then in the morning I turn on my straighteners whilst I moisturise my face put on a tiny bit of bb cream then I put on abit of foundation and do my eyebrows then put on my lashes .....after this I. Straighten my hair......it depends on what I'm doing that day.

bananamonkey · 23/01/2020 09:56

Hair is another matter but make up takes 10 mins:

IT Cosmetics CC cream with a drop of oil to help it go on easier
The CC cream has great coverage so only need a few dabs of cream concealer under eyes and on blemishes.
Quick swipe of brow bones and cheek bones with a cream highlighter stick.
Blusher
Brows are micro bladed so don’t have to worry about the shape, just a quick touch up with pomade and powder
Bobbi Brown LongWear cream eyeshadow stick in Stone on lids and under the eyes as liner, quick blend with finger.
Curl lashes + mascara
Translucent powder and setting spray

And I put fake tan drops in my moisturiser to perk up my skin.

Howmanysleepsnow · 23/01/2020 09:56

My priorities are:
Light reflecting concealer on under eye shadows, eyelids, corners of nose and patted outward from nose (like whiskers if that makes sense?) to make me look fresher faced.
Mascara to open my eyes.
Eyebrows with coloured wax to add shape to face.

If I have an extra 5 minutes then sculpt under cheekbone, highlight on top (both subtle though) and pinkish blusher to apples of cheeks, plus tinted lip balm/ subtle gloss.

letsjog · 23/01/2020 10:37

Hair often goes up as its long. But makeup is 10mins flat.
In order:

Foundation
Eyebrows (I have a pomade and just slightly fill them in)
A little cream bronzer on eyelids applied with finger (otherwise I look dead)
Eyeliner pen - only from just past halfway point on lashline and very very thin line barely there but enough to make my eye a bit more shapely
Mascara
Concealer under eyes - again not much + I don't apply foundation there so it's not cakey
Quick sweep of bronzer/contour under cheeks and around hairline
Bit of cream highlight on cheek again barely there but enough to give a bit of glowyness so I'm not so washed out

as long as you have all your things to hand it's literally 8-10 mins for me.

professionalnomad · 23/01/2020 17:43

Brows with pencil and then fix with gel
CT's Eyes to Mesmerize in Bette swashed over lid
Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara
Garnier BB cream in Medium
Benefit's Rockateur blush (its sheeny so no need for additional highlighter)
Physician's Formula Lip Butter in Brazil Nut

I wear a full face of makeup every day for work so this is all I do at the weekends.
