Colouring roots - at home

I already dye my hair at home but if I just want to dye my roots is there a product for this?

You can get those root touch up kits - I have used them in the past and they are okay.

What dye do you use? I use L'Oreal Majirel that you mix with a developer.

You can mix just a 1/4 of a tube with 25ml of the developer and I find this is enough for a touch up in between the hairdresser visits every 6 weeks.

I'm watching this with interest I hate going to the hairdressers but can't manage dyeing hair myself anymore. @alittlequinnie do you use the same brand of colour as your hairdresser uses on you? Does she/he mind ?
@divawithafever I've just mixed up a small amount of my usual dye when I used to colour at home. Just make sure you get proportions right of peroxide and dye. I had a little measuring cup which I think may have been from washing liquid that I used to measure with. I believe Nice and Easy do root touch ups that are supposed to blend with most colours but haven't used them myself.

I would be careful of the nice and easy root touch up
I have been having hair loss sine using that, although i have always used nice and easy colours with no problem,
I had a scalp biopsy on monday to find out the cause, and if that dye is the problem there will be trouble,
It could be anything, maybe stress, but just strange that it is only in the places i used that root touch up
Haave a look on Trust pilot, nice and easy have very bad reviews
I will never use it again

@princessTiasmum hope they find out what has caused it for you. I used to colour mine at home with an ammonia free colour called Tints of nature. I actually hate the smell of ammonia in hair dye and I know Nice and Easy are quite strong. I used Tints of nature for many years no problem but found last couple of years my grey isn't completely covered and just gets sort of blended in. I think this is me though and due to menopause/HRT. PPD is one of the main causes of allergy although I am not sure it would cause hair loss, I dont know enough about it. Daniel Field do a very gentle hair colour that contains not ammonia, peroxide or PPD, again though it's not as strong as "normal" hair dyes so you may not get great grey coverage if that is an issue. I believe that Sodium laureth/lauryl sulphate in shampoos has been linked to hair loss.

I should get the results back soon, but was told if it was an allergy i would probably have swelling of face and /or eyes
Will update when i find out
It just seems odd that the hairloss is only where i tinted the roots, and only with this new product
I looked on trust pilot and lots have lost hair on nice and easy

I do my own root blend touch up at home.
Get highlights once a year which grow out and then I do my roots every 4 weeks and kind of drag it down a bit
I watched a you tube video on root blending
I think it looks ok
I never just use the hair dye bottles.
I bought a little bowl and brush applicator from Poundland
Section it and work my way round the roots

I just use any brown dyes - whatever is on offer or few pounds from Home Bargains etc.

I don’t find there is enough dye in the Nice & Easy root touch up kit ( I have quick thick hair )

I buy professional colour online. I buy a load of peroxide too. 60ml of colour to 60ml if peroxide.

I mix it in a pre used colour applicator bottle which I kept from an old kit and just distribute it through my roots. Wait and rinse.

You just need to work out the colour number and the peroxide you need.

Lasts so so so much better than a supermarket dye. Only about £8 a time when you buy 10 packs at a time.
