Need a really decent eye make up remover

I wear quite a bit of eye makeup including gel liner and mascara (not waterproof) every day. I've tried a few eye makeup removers and they all leave my eyes really dry. I've used Bioderma Miscellar water which has been recommend loads and more recently I've been using Simple eye makeup remover. Both leave me feeling dry.

I need a gentle remover. I think I need one with some sort of oil base. Budget £15-20. Sounds a lot but my eyes are suffering.

Clinique Lips Lids and Lashes is excellent

ElspethFlashman · 20/01/2020 18:58

Garnier have a miceller water in a black bottle which is fantastic as its an oil/miceller mix. Usually on offer somewhere as well. I don't bother buying seperate eye makeup remover now.

I have used the Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip make up remover for a long time. www.thebodyshop.com/en-gb/face/view-all/camomile-waterproof-eye-lip-make-up-remover/p/p000935. I do wear waterproof mascara though but also have sensitive eyes and this is the business. My daughters don’t wear waterproof mascara but still use this one as it does remove all traces of make up. They do make a non waterproof version as well.

I rate Lancôme Bi-Facil for removing waterproof mascara, quite oily and very gentle.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 20/01/2020 19:38

I use Sweet Almond Oil if I'm wearing a lot of eye makeup. Its very gentle on the skin but dissolves everything and makes it really easy to remove, and is cheap as chips. Just finish off with toner to remove excess oil.

I was going to recommend baby lotion. That gets off whatever I use without fail. I also use Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean face wash, which is good for getting eye make-up off.

nonsensicalmess · 20/01/2020 20:57

I have tried so many - expensive and cheap - and the body shop's camomile remover is the best. I love it so much, removes everything, is gentle and not oily, no panda eyes in the morning!

Maraki · 20/01/2020 20:59

I have dry sensitive skin and wear a lot of makeup. I loosen it with warm water until I get panda eyes and then wipe off with baby oil. Then rinse. Never leaves a trace of makeup and it never irritates my skin.

Clementine8 · 20/01/2020 21:03

Coconut oil works best for me. Lancôme one was good but was a bit too oily.

asparalite · 20/01/2020 21:04

Having over the years tried loads of different eye make up removers, Ive now found that I really like which works very well,

It's oily as hell but Nivea Double Effect Eye Make Up Remover. It's the only one that cuts through my heavy waterproof mascara and gel liner without having the rub my eyes raw. It's cheap too!

NewbieSM · 21/01/2020 03:13

Body shop balm cleanser or the cleansing oils are fab and not too pricey. Very hydrating and gentle but dissolves all eye makeup including waterproof mascara.

Summer135 · 21/01/2020 04:04

Lancôme is lovely. Great to remove eye make up but gentle to the skin.

penisbeakers · 21/01/2020 04:10

Olive oil.

CantChoose · 21/01/2020 09:13

Another vote for Lancôme. My optician uses it too.

MinesaPinot · 21/01/2020 09:40

I'd second the Clinique Lips Lids and Lashes Take the Day off. I've used a lot of eye make up removers over the years and always seem to go back to this one.

Having said that I might give the Body Shop Camomile one a go after seeing good reviews here.

Astrabees · 21/01/2020 09:50

Another vote for Clinique, it really does gently remove every last smear of mascara and eyeliner without drying out your skin or leaving it greasy.

massistar · 21/01/2020 10:41

The Clinique one is my favourite but Nivea Double Effect is nearly as good and so much cheaper I find it hard to justify the Clinique one!

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 21/01/2020 11:00

Second Lancome Bifacil. it is expensive though.

TheJoxter · 21/01/2020 11:02

Any kind of oil is good. Olive, coconut, and sweet almond have all been suggested, I’d also recommend rosehip oil. Rub it all over then wipe off with a warm damp cloth

Popuppippa · 21/01/2020 11:09

I mainly use Lancome Bifacil. It is gentle and effective but I've been having stingy, watery eyes recently so I've been using Cetaphil on a damp cotton wool pad and that's working well. In the past I've also used Lancome Galateis Douceur and Confort - just extended ot to my eyes when cleansing.

I'd love to find something completely hypoallergenic as I wear contact lenses but I've not found anything so far.

Glitterb · 21/01/2020 11:48

Coconut nut oil is amazing for make up removing, I always find other products sting my eyes
