Reusable make up remover pads

So I’m really trying to cut down on waste and recycle more things. I bought some bamboo make up remover pads. I use waterproof mascara and an oil based make up remover. I’ve used the cotton pads once, put them in their little mesh bag in the washing machine and they have come out looking like I haven’t washed them at all. This morning I decided to bleach them to get them back to white. Nothing happened! I’ve tried stain remover spray and powder - still nothing. What can I do to remove the stains? Or do I have to buy black cotton pads instead 🤷‍♀️

Leave the stains. They don’t matter really, as long as the cloths are clean

Sounds like you need to put them through a hot machine wash

Soak them overnight in softened hot water (with a bit of salt) a few drops of white vinegar and or bicarb of soda. It removes any stains.

Where do ypu get them?

I think you are probably right - I thought the same. They just don’t look very nice now. Usually they are in a glass container on the bathroom windowsill - not nice when they look dirty and used ☹️

I will try the hot wash next time they need to be washed. 👍🏼

If that doesn’t work then the vinegar and bicarbonate soak overnight will be next!

I bought them online, I can’t remember which company it was now. There are a few.

No point trying to do the right thing by the environment then using a load of harsh chemicals to try and wash them.

I had some bamboo/cotton ones and had the same issue. I had to spray them with vanish to get close to clean looking but it became hard work to stick to using them.
My friend gave me a cheeky wipe starter pack and since then they are all I’ve used. For some reason the white side comes out white and the coloured side is obviously fine. They go in with the colours in the wash at 30. They are also more gentle on my skin so I’m sold tbh.
