Best cream for REALLY dry, sore, sensitive face ?

I've started some anti acne meds this week and as a result the skin on my face is so so sore, dry and sensitive. Big red angry dry patches owwww
Does anyone have any suggestions for a really rich soothing cream I could slather on my face? Preferably something I could nip out now and buy from the high street/local chemist

Curel from boots is a new Japanese brand and it is made especially for dry, sensitive skin. I have eczema and usually use Avene, LRP etc but I like this brand more especially the cleanser and moisuriser

This winter, I suddenly had scaly, dry cheeks which I've never had. I was recommended hyaluronic acid 2% (sounds scary, but it helps hydrate skin!) from 'The ordinary' and really cheap. I also use the sanctuary overnight miracle oil, rather than a cream. The difference is remarkable. No longer scaly or as dry and feels plumped and smooth again!

Weleda skinfood.

Organic coconut oil.

AhNowTed · 11/01/2020 21:27

Astral

It's all I use all over. My daughter has chronic eczema since a baby and it's all she uses as well.

Old as the hills and cheap as chips.

Ohmygosh thank you so much for all the recommendations.
It's so tricking sore and I have a big birthday party on Monday but there's no way I can put make up on this without it looking flaky and bumpy and just feeling SORE. Will go through the recommendations properly and give some a go 🙏🏼 you guys are fab.

Another vote for Eucerin 10% urea. Always a big tube of this in our house, whole family use it whenever any of us get dry skin, or dry patches, on their face.

You can't beat the cheap and cheerful nivea soft

chocolatespiders · 12/01/2020 01:18

I would recommend Childs farm baby moisturiser. Best thing I ever swapped to.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/01/2020 08:57

I know people really rave about Child's Farm but it was like pouring battery acid onto my skin when I had a flare up. Just proceed with caution and do a patch test with anything new I suppose.

ppeatfruit · 12/01/2020 09:17

I would also suggest (esp. if your water is very hard and or highly chlorinated) splashing your face with lukewarm FILTERED water and or soften it with seasalt. I literally cured ds's childhood eczema bathing him in that type of water.

ppeatfruit · 12/01/2020 09:19

Oh also take evening primrose\or starflower supplements.

MakeLemonade · 12/01/2020 09:20

Eucerin fan here too, use the 10% one as a topical treatment and then the night cream (5%) to maintain.

Also find blue pot of nivea is a good overnight option for hydration too.

I've been using Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream. My acne is now under control and skin doesn't feel dry at all. Best of all, it doesn't leave that greasy feeling, and I'm loving it. And it's a Korean moisturizer. I've been using it for more than 2 years now.

You can learn more about Korean moisturizers here: skinseas.com/best-korean-moisturizer-dry-skin/

Earlier, I was using Nivea creme but I don't think I'd be going back. Korean moisturizers all the way now!

Mustela Emollient Balm is the most comforting and rich cream. It’s a baby brand but I use it as a daily moisturiser and nothing has come close. It’s full of oils eg avocado oil and no nasty chemicals. E45 is like water compared with this. Gorgeous stuff.

ppeatfruit · 13/01/2020 08:29

Yes User IMO the the brand leader creams are not much good, they are full of the cheapest petroleum products, fake 'parfum' hydrogenated oils and the sodium laureth sulphates . A lot of people don't realise that they don't help them for very long. Sometimes they positively damage your skin, esp. the steroid based ones.

To be on anti biotics long term is just dreadful too in so many ways.
