Interview shoes

I have my first interview in a very long time and to distract myself from panicking about what I'm going to say, I'm panicking about what I'm going to wear. Specifically shoes.

At work just now I tend to wear wide legged tailored trousers (never skirts or dresses), with DMs or smartish leather trainers. The interview isn't for a very corporate environment so I think I can probably take the formality up a notch on the clothes by adding a smart jacket and a shirt but I clearly can't wear casual shoes, and I don't do heels. I have very very wide feet which restricts what I can wear - would brogues be smart enough (if polished and newish/not too worn)? Would a flat Chelsea boot be better, if I could find one wide enough? All the extra wide flat ladies shoes I've seen are Hotter type things, which are pricy and don't look any smarter to me and frankly I would resent paying money for as I probably wouldn't wear them ever again.

Would you do kitten heels? Next do them in wide fit and there's some in the sale. They do one that comes up higher over the foot...this is wide even in standard fit so their actual wide fit should be fine. They have lots of finishes and colours. These were 13 down from 38. This is a standard fit and I have to put grip and insole in for my normal/narrow width foot. They slim the foot and look really elegant with anything.

By the way, I only put these on for the pic...don't normally wear blue shoes with black trousers!!

Brogues would definitely be ok!

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 10/01/2020 18:02

@Hairydogmummy unfortunately my trotters won't fit into any Next shoes - my foot would bulge over that style and I'd hobble even if I could force them in Ugly Sister style!

@Maraki Do you think? I'm much more comfortable in those.

Are you sure you're not just being really hard on yourself there!? I'm sure brogues would be fine anyway...what about some nice patent ones in burgundy or navy or something?

The patent Hamble Oaks in Clarks look a bit narrow even in wide fit but I'll try them on - I have seriously wide feet (hence DMs and trainers!)
