Podiatrists and people with crap feet! Walk this way...

I’ve been told by a podiatrist that I need shoes that pass the twist test, and that have a solid heel counter. Any suggestions for shoes that aren’t awful? I’m normally a jeans/trousers or dress and ankle boots person. I really don’t want to look like I’m on my way to climb Everest.

Would DMs do?

I’ll need to buy online.

Both got very noticeable results after the first session (I tried them years after the other), and I'd say the symptoms/pain had more or less vanished by the 3rd of both.

But both my practitioners moved away so I stopped. I need to find replacements!

Right, I've booked a massage. God help me.

Well done! Make sure to tell them specifically about tight calves. And that you tense up!

My podiatrist told me to buy a pair of running trainers - lots of support, he said.

I sprained my ankle nearly 4 years ago now and have had nothing but problems with my ankle and foot since! Podiatrist diagnosed plantar fasciitis about 18 months ago as a result of my ankle injury and recovery! I've tried strive, vionics, insoles, support braces, massage. Just bought my first pair of asics, wouldnt say they were much better than my old adidas but we will see. Massage is the key for me, first few absolutely killed me but the difference after was amazing. I now go once a month although ever 2 weeks would probably be more effective but at £40 a go is a bit pricey.

Would massage work for Achilles tendonitis? I've been in agony since the summer and it definitely affects the way I walk. Find footwear really hard at the minute as one heel is so painful. I was told rest, heat and cold. Neither of which help. Rest I cannot do!

My friend had major problems with her feet lately. It got so bad she had to cancel a holiday as she couldn't walk, it was so painful.
Hospital consultant recommended Brooks ( running shoes and trainers ) google them. Expensive - but she hasn't looked back since she bought them. They've been really beneficial.
