Nose pores - how did you get rid or reduce them

Just that. Using beauty pie salicylic acid - which I understand should minimise pores - but haven't noticed any difference.

Any have any methods/products?

A course of dermabrasion really helped mine. I haven't found a topical product that has made a difference tbh.

kmini · 09/01/2020 18:33

Oh what a shame! So many things I've been able to cure with products at home.

I find something like Porefessional (?) primer makes a big difference temporarily.

tobee · 09/01/2020 18:41

Maybelline dream matte mousse is, I find, quite a good quick fix.

BonnyConnie · 09/01/2020 18:47

I found the beauty pie Dr Glycolic really helped with this a skin quality in general. It does take 2 months for full effects to show though. I was asked for ID today and was well chuffed!

Fifteenthnamechange · 09/01/2020 18:49

I have this problem. I've been using some of the beauty pie stuff for a few months now & no difference 😏

horizontilting · 09/01/2020 18:52

Search for sebaceous filaments and oil Cleansing threads. V effective.

MrsJoshNavidi · 09/01/2020 18:54

Roaccutane.

Rachelfromfriends1 · 09/01/2020 20:49

This might sound a bit ghetto, use a sterilised needle to lance the visible pores then stick a blister plaster on overnight. The hydrocolloid dressing drains them out. You can skip using needle if you want but it’s more effective.

Just to clarify - I have a fabulous skincare routine consisting of predominantly pricey Kiehl’s products - I also chemical exfoliate and physical exfoliate when necessary but I cannot for the life of me completely eradicate nose pores without blister plasters. My skin is generally very good, it’s just oily. I never had a problem with pores when my skin was dry!

BorneoBabe · 09/01/2020 21:05

Accutane. Horrible side effects though.

lovehatesummer · 09/01/2020 21:35

A bit counter-intuitive, but upping my moisturising game really helped.

It turned out that my pores were more visible because my skin was dehydrated. I stopped with the acids and oils (which were not hydrating - who knew!) and layered hydrating toners and creams instead. Really worked for me!

kmini · 09/01/2020 21:49

Interesting @lovehatesummer. Can you let me know you am/PM routine and which products work for you please?

Differin gel

lovehatesummer · 09/01/2020 22:14

@kmini the product that made a real difference in terms of hydration for me was Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid. You can get it from Selfridges or Cult Beauty in the UK, though I've also ordered off the sweetcorea website for cheaper (though longer shipping times).

It's a thick liquid, almost a cross between a toner/cream. I pat it on after a toner (alcohol free, I'm not massively brand loyal but currently using A.Florence milky toner) and then follow with a moisturiser.

AM I use a La Roche Posay moisturiser, PM generally Ren's bio-retinoid cream or overnight balm depending on my mood. If I get any blemishes, I do use a salicylic oil-based product (Votary is probably my favourite but A.Florence do one too), pricey-ish but you generally need just a dab and the bottle lasts forever.

My skin is (was?) dehydrated and sensitive though - I think the oils I was using masked the dehydration to an extent, but didn't really tackle the root cause if that makes sense. And the acid toners/treatments made my skin even more sensitive and reactive (so prone to peeling) and made my pores really obvious.

kmini · 09/01/2020 22:41

Thank you all really helpful

babymullet · 10/01/2020 01:33

@Rachelfromfriends1 what do you mean by blister plaster?

Raisingawolfpack · 10/01/2020 06:41

I've been told that using a retinol really helps with this, as well as hylaronic acid.

I have tried it myself using the ordinary gran active retinol and it does seem to make a difference. Worth a go?

homemadecommunistrussia · 10/01/2020 07:17

You can get hydrocolloid nose strips, so like blister plasters, but I assume a bit easier to remove.
I wouldn't fancy trying to peel a compeed off my face!Shock

kmini · 10/01/2020 07:50

Definitely up for trying the nose strips.

I dont know whether I didn't notice this problem before as i had other things to address with my skin like dryness. Alternatively maybe it's just one of my current product that's exacerbating it? I am using a beauty pie jeju moisturising cream - which is heavy and super monitoring for nightime but I love it. Anyone felt heavy creams contributes. Wondering if like @lovehatesummer it's the 'wrong' kind of moisturiser for my skin (well behaved on the whole but dry, almost 40 aging issues)

OP posts:
MrsJoshNavidi · 10/01/2020 17:22

BorneoBabe I didn't find the side effects too bad.
DD2 is currently taking Roaccutane and she's finding it ok too. It's working wonders.

HermioneWeasley · 10/01/2020 18:27

Niacinimide from the Ordinary

Woopdewoop · 10/01/2020 18:30

Has anyone tried Mario Badescu Silver Powder?

Woopdewoop · 10/01/2020 18:31

I haven’t btw but looking for something also. I’m using the Revolution Niacinimide Zinc which is supposed to be good but not sure yet if working

Rachelfromfriends1 · 10/01/2020 18:43

@babymullet I just meant these - promise they don’t hurt to take off! Just flick a side off and stretch it across your nose

ZoeandChandon · 18/02/2020 14:57

Thanks very much for all your help, will work my way through and get ordering!
