Anyone have an idea how to rid myself of these spots?

Sorry if this isn’t the place to ask, I’ll have it moved if needed but I’m at my wits end.

I developed this weird rash on my chin at the end of June last year and everything I’ve tried since then has not made any slight difference. They are red/pink sometimes look like white ears but nothing comes out if I squeeze them. They’re just red bumps on my chin but they show through every foundation I’ve used.

I never had acne before, but I’m soon to be 40 and this is getting me down. I’ve seen my dr who prescribed duac but it did nothing at all. She couldn’t even tell me what it was but I’m just desperate for them to go. Any advice at all greatly appreciated

(Apologies for the very weird photo too 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Does your chin come into contact with anything that might cause it?
I would just put sudocrem on it.

Try this, I find it great for rashes, irritated skin, scars, etc. It really is excellent

Could it be a fungal infection? I had this under my nose and on my chin when I was very run down a few years ago. Hard to tell from the pics.

BestestBrownies · 08/01/2020 00:35

Food intolerance? I got similar when I ate too many pistachios. Took forever to get rid of the rash. I second a PP’s suggestion to slather on the Sudocrem

TantricTwist · 08/01/2020 01:03

It could be toothpaste related which is common for this type of rash as is kissing someone with a beard or urm other hairy part of bodies.

There is a product to use for bacterial things on your face and dandruff shampoo has this ingredient in it so people often use dandruff shampoo as a face wash. You probably just need to try it a couple of times only to see if it works.

Your GP should be referring you to a dermatologist if she doesnt know how to treat it. I hope she's done this and not just left you in limbo to sort this out yourself.

lexiepuppy · 08/01/2020 01:06

I would give sudocrem a go.
Failing that try Apple cider vinegar wiped over it with cotton wool.
Dab tea tree oil on if you are not allergic to it.

Do you ride a bike? I get a chin rash from my bike helmet strap. Scarves do it too.

TantricTwist · 08/01/2020 01:11

You could try 'Selsun' which has selenium sulphide looks like this apply it on your face then wash straight off. My GP prescribed this for my son who had a wierd rash on his face and it went and never returned after being there for months

Tinaarena · 08/01/2020 09:10

Thanks for all the replies, I tried sudocrem, Johnson’s nappy rash cream, t tree, cider vinegar, any other home made recipe you could think of.
I’ve had a few facials and even the lady just told me skin was changing as I’m getting older.
My dr wasn’t very good and has indeed just left me in limbo to sort it out myself.

I don’t cycle, I’ve not eaten anything out of the ordinary either, as someone above mentioned the toothpaste after writing this last night I googled other causes again and fluoride was one that kept coming up so I tried ds’s toothpaste which was lower fluoride today and will keep going with that to see if it improves.

Definitely not kissing any beards or any other hairy parts though 😂 but that did make me laugh.
Off to google the sunsen cream someone never ruined though

Not much help but I was going to say stubble rash!!!
It might be worth a trip to the GP to see if it is a fungal infection or anything similar

MikeUniformMike · 08/01/2020 10:42

I was thinking something like do you cup your chin in your hand, or wear a scarf that might rub against your chin.
I would avoid trying lots of different creams and ointments - just try one.

I'm the same age and had something very similar to this last year. Bumps under the skin on my chin but also once in a while one or two would flare up into a proper spot. It lasted a few months and was driving me crazy.

In the end I started using this antibacterial soap to wash my face and the spots started to calm down www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BNU08WQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_GcOfEbRK108QG?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I then added Nip and Fab glycolic pads into my routine and the spots totally cleared up.

IHeartKingThistle · 09/01/2020 01:43

Perioral dermatitis?

managedmis · 09/01/2020 01:46

Impetigo? Get some Fucidin

puds11 · 09/01/2020 01:57

Do they look like blisters at all? Could it be Phytophotodermatitis?

ambereeree · 09/01/2020 07:15

Have you been eating a lot more or new dairy or nut based product? Looks like allergy spots

BarracudaSharkNose · 09/01/2020 07:17

I got this when going through peri menopause, when my hormones settled down so did my skin.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 09/01/2020 07:31

Do you rest your chin in your hand? For example when sitting and reading/working?

My go-to advice for all facial skin problems is to try dermol lotion or cream (anti-microbial but not a steroid or specific anti fungal). It has cleared up (permanently, it seems) my dreadful perioral dermatitis and is easy to use as it soaks in well and doesn't smell. The good thing about it is that it will do no harm if you try it for two weeks and you can get it over the counter.

I honestly think it's a wonder product and is a really good thing to try while waiting for GP/dermatology appointment.
