Touching up grey bits - unusual hair!!!

My hair is naturally variagated in colour - ranges from Auburn to blond to brown and is very seasonal! It's long n curly n definitely my best feature! I trim the ends n it needs very little looking after so haven't been to hairdresser for a while.

I've noticed a fair few small grey hairs and some longer ones round my hairline. I'd like to get rid of them, but obviously don't want to dye the rest of it - it's like I need a touch up pen! Any ideas as to what I can do to get rid of them but not affect the rest of my hair. I'm clueless!!!

I used to do my hairline with a cotton bud, but my hair is very dark so the colour was pretty easy to match, which yours might not be. How about something like Color Fresh in the lightest warm shade? It's very conditioning, more like a rinse, which might be enough if you only have a few greys. It was recommended to me here when I had a balayage that turned orange and it worked a treat. www.wella.com/professional/en-EN/products/color-information/color_fresh#/?_k=lhhl1t

Tactum we’re hair twins! I came to ask exactly the same question and have hair which sounds identical. I have found over the last few months a patch of grey in my parting at the hairline and the hairs seem to be quadrupling every week! I have plucked a few out but need a better solution. It’s only now that I realise how much I love my hair and don’t want to dye it all over just yet. Any other suggestions/tips?

There are products you apply that wash out when you next wash your hair, either spray on or like a mascara. I don't get on with the spray on one, it makes my scalp itch, but you might fare better. There's also one like eye shadow, that you apply with a brush. That's what I'm using at present. They have them in Boots and Superdrug.

I make up my own hair dyeing tea. It turns my pretty much all over grey hair a natural blonde colour. You can still see all the natural high and low lights through it. I use a tiny bit of turmeric, camomile, redbush, and coffee in the tea. I apply it to clean dry hair, comb through and leave in.

Yes, There's L'Oreal Magic Touch up, which is a spray on colour, L'Oreal Magic retouch, which is like a mascara wand, and Hair Revolution cover up, which is like eye shadow you apply with a brush, that's the one I'm using at the moment. You don't get amazing coverage, but it kind of blends in the greys and is very quick to apply.

Loreal have a spray you can use to cover roots. Nice and easy also have a dye that comes with a wand designed for just your roots.

Personally, I would go to a professional. As someone with curly hair, I also fell into the trap of thinking it didn't need much looking after. Sadly I was wrong and a decent cut has been revolutionary. I'm also going grey. I'm tired of blanket colouring my hair dark brown and am investing in a professional colour to blend the roots with my existing colour.

I used to have a mallen streak and before I stupidly went down the all over dye route I used to get a box dye, follow the instructions for making up a small amount for the patch test (generally x drops of developer x drops of colour - along those lines). Then apply with an old tooth brush.

Kept me going for years.
