Foundation to cover teen spots?

My 12yr old DD has today asked if she can wear foundation to cover her spots. Her school allows foundation as long as it looks natural and not OTT. Any recommendations? Also any advice on general teen skin care is appreciated!

Makeup will make them worse

A mineral powder would let the skin breathe whilst covering them.

Make up in general will clog the skin, but as long as you teach her how to remove it 100% every night with a cleanser (not just wipes) it will be ok.

Try to avoid creamy or oil based foundations.

This brand in particular is brilliant: www.bareminerals.co.uk

@Beetie I had bad spots as a teen, it absolutely destroyed my confidence and covered them (badly).

Good skincare routine- I think la Roche posay do some good products in the Effaclar range.

Also agree Bare Minerals is really good and won't make spots worse- the original foundation is quite 'glowy' but they do a matte version which I prefer.

I started using the pill when I was just a bit older than your DD- it made a big difference to my skin. I used Dianette which is especially good for this- wonder if it's worth looking into?

DD uses Effaclar but it's not worked so well lately so she's using Dermalogica which she says is fab.

She uses Clinique blemish control foundation. Does what it says on the tin as it has spot zapping ingredients within the foundation.
