As in daily and weekly?
I want to try and make more effort. I just struggle to make time for it!

I have a skincare routine if that counts? One way I've got consistent is to keep it simple and tack it onto a previous habit. So in the morning I do it after I've brushed my teeth and in the evening I do it after I've showered or bathed.

If I leave it until just before bed there's a very large chance laziness will prevail.

I always wonder what people who say they don't have a skincare routine do instead? Do you not cleanse or moisturise your face at all?

ClientListQueen · 06/01/2020 21:17

Yes, am and pm. The evening one is done when I get home. Weekly things vary mostly done as and when

NotStayingIn · 06/01/2020 21:25

Yes. I’ve followed it religiously for about a year now and my skin definitely looks and feels better. Nothing OTT, just double cleansing, serum (retinol mainly) and night cream in the evening and in the morning splash face with water, no cleanser, serum (hyaluronic acid or vit c) and moisturiser with SPF.

Skincare every morning and night - I tend to do the night stuff before dinner rather than before bed. Hair washed and dried every day.
Every few days - paint nails.
Weekly - bath, pedicure, sheet mask.
Fortnightly - get eyebrows threaded.
Once a month - tint brows and lashes, colour hair.
Every five weeks - hair cut.

At this time of year I am lazy about shaving, so it’s pretty much weekly. In bare leg weather that is a hateful daily chore.

Cleanse, tone, moisturise face in the morning and before bed everyday. Extras: aloe vera gel and/or tea tree gel to target areas on face (morning and night), vaseline on face after moisturising at night.
Moisturise body after showering.
Use a body exfoliator weekly in the shower.
Daily use of foot pumice on heels.
Initially used flexitol heel balm as per instructions, now maintain with once weekly application.
Bar soap not shower gel.
Paint nails every couple of days or weekly depending on type of nail polish used.
Wash hair every two days.
Monthly eyebrow threading with twice weekly tweezing.
Twice weekly facial hair removal.
Argan oil/almond oil on hair night before it will be washed the following morning.
Lip balm/vaseline for lips- have some at home in the kitchen, in handbag and at work.
Chewing gum- have some in handbag and at work.
Teeth- brush morning and night, ideally after each meal if possible when at home. Use mouthwash after meals- have some at work too.

Current make up now that brows are regularly threaded:
Eyeshadow (brown, plum, grey, black etc)
Mascara
Lip balm
Lipstick
Previously used to draw on my eyebrows as well

Current hair:
Straight cut hairstyle, no layers apart from feathering at the front, maintained with trims every 4 to 6 weeks.
Straighten hair for work and have down.
Outside work I braid it (french plait, fishtail braid, fringe style front braid), have a half up half down look.

Drink water everyday- keep bottle on desk at work and another on bedside table, drink water with every meal.
Fruit and vegetables daily.
Vitamins- keep some at work, some at home.
Sleep as much as possible.

Try not to feel guilty about taking time out of your day for self care. Work/life can be overwhelming but l find you can feel more accomplished/happier/etc if you follow even a small chunk of your personal beauty/skincare regime everyday.

Yeah I wash my face and moisturise that's it. I want to start doing a bit more though like making an effort to wear makeup more often and doing a face mask once in a while. It all went to pot since having my dd Grin I'm always too tired or in too much of a rush so to speak so it's only the basics that get done and it doesn't make me feel very nice. I'm trying to manage my time better so I'm able to do a bit more.

@lottiebugz - I hear you on the time and effort factor. For me, it's trying to get better about doing my hair and nails.

For skin and makeup, I think the trick is to be religious about cleansing and moisturising twice daily. And if a face mask is too much time and effort, consider a serum for night time or similar - takes 20 seconds to put on but can make a huge difference. I clean my face with oil. My skin is quite dry and I use almond oil, adding a few drops of caster oil twice a week to give it a bit more richness. Ditto, I exfoliate in the shower in the morning twice a week, adding just seconds to my routine.

I've also tried to get back into the habit of wearing make up more often. For me, the trick was to accept a very minimal approach I can do in seconds. So on a normal day like today, I'm wearing some light foundation (Mac), blusher, mascara and lip gloss. That's it. But it's enough to really brighten things up. If I have time and energy, I also add a light eye shadow to widen my eyes and a thin line of eyeshadow in a dark colour instead of eye liner.

EmmiJay · 07/01/2020 10:42

Yes, I cleanse and tone every night. Moisturise. Face mask (peel off, charcoal) about twice a week. I do a rejuvinating face peel twice a month. Hair removal (tidying eyebrows etc) once a week. Thats it. I will say that now I'm dedicated to doing these things, my skin looks even better, my make up stays put and isn't as oily as it used to be.

Wash with soap and water when I wake up and before bed. Job done.
