I've got an old skirt I'd like to alter, but i'd like to Google to see if there are any tutorials dur inspiration and I don't know what term to use for this. The skirt is fitted from waist band to hip, with a front button and zip. Below the zip is one wide pleat that then allows the skirt to become fuller. Is there a term for this sort of dropped pleat?

An example Is the Boden mira denim skirt.

The Biden Mira denim skirt is an A line skirt and doesn't appear to have any pleats at all in it.
Are you thinking of a dropped box pleat?

RandomMess · 05/01/2020 09:27

So like a kick pleat but it's at the front?

RandomMess · 05/01/2020 09:31

Think I've found a school skirt but without the front zip.

A line skirt with inverted pleat...

Lostintransfixation · 05/01/2020 09:39

Yes as pp said, it sounds like an inverted pleat with a front zip

Thanks all. When I Google "boden mira denim skirt" the 1st image is exactly the skirt but a polka dot version, has the front zip and the pleat below it. Strange, could be that's what my phone knows to show based on my Google history. Anyway thanks, I thought the placement of it being so low would have its own term, like bertha's suggestion, which is very similar.

How are you intending to alter it?

Oldraver · 05/01/2020 14:45

It does sound like other PP's have said an inverted pleat, which are quite easy to alter
