Work dresses - please help!

I work in a relatively corporate (and very male dominated) environment, but we’re given the autonomy to dress down when not seeing clients. I’ve fallen into a rut of cigarette trousers, untucked blouses and one LK Bennett smart jacket that’s just clinging on for dear life.

I’d love to wear dresses, problem is I’ve got a spare tyre so a lot of fitted dresses just highlight this. Out of work I love a midi skirt with a cosy jumper (to hide said spare tyre!), a leather biker jacket and trainers or boots.

Can anyone help me with any suggestions of dresses? I love whistles but can’t bear to spend whistles prices on things just for work. I’m happy to spend about £250 but would ideally like to get 3 or four dresses for this.

I’m a size twelve but with relatively sizeable boobs so wrap dresses and shirt dresses tend to look a bit indecent for the work environment!

Thanks for any help or advice you are able to give

I know it’s not to everyone’s taste but Boden
Good range of styles and colours

fedup21 · 04/01/2020 16:22

I’ve got big boobs and wear wrap dresses all the time. I just wear them with a black or white tight H+M vest top underneath.

Same body-shape here and another vote for Boden! Also Wallis used to do some decent faux-wrap dresses, I just wear a thin t-shirt/cami underneath. Skirt with close-fitting (rather than tight) v-neck sweater is another staple.

I bought some from the Hobbs sale today. They seem to be good quality and will hopefully last well.

try Esprit, most of my work dresses are from there - I find they are cut with a bit more room for boobs. www.esprit.co.uk/womenswear/clothes/dresses/business

Fatface do some lovely comfortable dresses.

I need exactly the same OP. Professional office environment, new casual dress code, I am not the slimmest I’ve been so don’t want anything fitted...

I second FatFace, they've got some lovely comfy dresses in the sale

Thank you so much for the replies. Fatface is a little to casual for what I need - even though it’s dress down it’s still quite corporate.

Boden didn’t come up trumps for a dress for me but did have a couple of great tops I bought.

Did manage to get this bargain from whistles, I’ve got it in another colour so know it’s a nice cut. Now just need them to do it in a few more colours and so cheaply too! www.whistles.com/women/clothing/dresses/sabina-v-neck-dress-30030.html?cgid=Dresses_Clothing_WW&dwvar_sabina-v-neck-dress-30030_color=Flame#sz=60&start=60

Same kind of figure as yours, I find Phase Eight dresses good. Some are a bit mother of the bride but they have lots of more modern ones too and fit well.

Bit over budget but I’ve found Winser London very useful for this sort of thing - comfortable but flattering fit and classic designs. www.winserlondon.com/shop/the-edits/miracle-collection code MIRACLE20 gets you 20% off ‘Miracle’ dresses.
