I recently lost weight and by body shape has changed to this. (See picture) can anyone tell me is there a name for this shape and what is the most flattering dress style for it please.

Thanks.

I always was an apple before but I have lost weight and the fat has re distributed round my waist and bum. So a side profile will show a thick belly area. What's best for that shape

I would have thought apple still but leaning to pear. That's not my shape so I can't make any suggestions, but well done on the weight loss!!!

Looks quite Apple to me.

As apples, our limbs are the best bit, so I can do skinny trousers ( M&S do some good ones) with knitwear that isn’t fitted to the torso.
Empire line dresses are also good as are long line tops.
Bam does yoga pants that visually take a stone off.

@ohyesiam I’m interested in the Bam yoga pants you’re talking about! I’ve had a look on the site and there’s various options - could you link to the ones you mean? Cheers.

I’m sorry I have no idea how to do linksBlush.
The ones I got are the Enduro high waist 7/8 length, cost £50 ish

You could try one of the personal shopper services in somewhere like Debenhams/John Lewis.

Allthegoodnamesweretakenalread · 03/01/2020 12:04

Sorry posted too soon!

I've used the Debenhams one and it was really good. Private room and they bring lots of clothes to you to try on. They pick out things you wouldnt necessarily pick yourself but are really flattering! The lady I saw wasnt very pushy either so no pressure to buy anything.

Thanks @Ohyesiam !

georgialondon · 03/01/2020 12:20

I'd say that's apple shaped.

feelingverylazytoday · 03/01/2020 12:31

I'm an apple shape, though I've slimmed down to be more of a rectangle now.
When you're an apple you need to avoid anything that cuts you in two round the middle, so no belts, no tops tucked into skirts/trousers, no short tops that stop at your waistline, and nothing too tight either.
I used to wear leggings with tunic tops that came to mid thigh, or skinny jeans with a jumper that came down to the bottom of my bum level and skimmed over my midsection.
For dresses fit and flare work quite well as they can create the illusion of a waistline. For necklines I prefer a scoop or v neck, it just stops the 'bosomy' look.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/01/2020 12:32

Looks like nice slim legs - go for skinny jeans/trousers or mini skirts with more flowing tops.

feelingverylazytoday · 03/01/2020 12:33

Forgot to add, jeans with a long plaid shirt works well as well, you can wear it over a vest top if you want. and leave some or all of the buttons undone.

Thanks guys lots of advice and food for thought there. I'd love some great for and flare dresses for the summer. I'll start looking now. Thanks xx
