So, am 54. My face seems to be slipping downwards and omg if I ever lift my phone to take a photo and it's on selfie mode at the wrong angle! I know, I know.....it's vain, I'm alive, relatively healthy etc etc BUT ...I would like to look my best. I look after myself fairly well , I exercise and eat pretty healthily, don't drink loads but gravity is winning...HELP!!
Facial exercises...do they work? What sort? I did look at Eva Fraser...and saw an interview with her...are we sure she has never had anything "done"...she didn't seem to be able to move her face much in the interview I saw?
Or....do I buy one of those face toning machines...has anyone used those?
Ideas or help or experience gratefully received fellow mums netters!

Oh, I want to know the answer to this too. There’s no discernible difference between a cowl neck and my actual neck.

ZoeandChandon · 02/01/2020 14:10

I don’t know if it works or not, but I’ve been having Guinot face lifting facials every month for 2/3 years. A couple of friends have said to me recently how young I’m looking (I’m 51).

mrscampbellblackagain · 02/01/2020 14:15

Personally I have had a little filler in cheekbone area and naso labial lines along with profhilo. It has subtly lifted my face. But is not cheap and I would only get fillers from a recommended doctor.

Time40 · 02/01/2020 14:22

I tried Eva Fraser for six months. I took it really seriously, did it properly ... it made not one scrap of difference (in fact, I even thought it was perhaps making things worse). It was an almighty boring pita, too.

I haven't given up on the idea of facial exercises, though - I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has found a system that works.

BigButtons · 02/01/2020 14:47

I am 52 and have done lots of different gave exercises over the years. The one I have been following for quite a while now is free and on you tube. The lady does an excellent job at talking you through how to do them properly.
They definitely make a difference to my face and neck.
My neck is Lon but I have no creepiness of turkey wobble. My cheek bones are are much more defined.
The channel is called face aerobics and the woman is Australian. PETA I think she’s called.

BigButtons · 02/01/2020 14:50

I also look after my skin. Use retin A, double cleanse at night, use some actives, only ever use oils as moisturiser and alway always wear spf 50 every single day of the year, even in the depths of winter.
It’s no good just exercising your face, you need to invest in looking after the skin too.

Handsnotwands · 02/01/2020 15:01

@BigButtons which spf do you use? I’m yet to find one that doesn’t make my skin feel yuck

BigButtons · 02/01/2020 16:33

@Handsnotwands I have used ultra sun for years. I find it sinks in easily and does not clog pores/ cause break outs etc Smile

febel · 03/01/2020 09:03

Retin A? Is there a particular make @BigButtons?
@Mrscampbellblackagain..re fillers etc..I have wondered about them but wouldn't know how to research going to a good place/person Also I have a fairly "full" face (some call it heart shaped I call it round) and wouldn't want it any bigger!

It's a bummer...I am not super vain but just don't want to look OLD! I work with teenagers too..and ofcourse THEY have not advise (not that I'd ask for it!) on what to do to fight/reverse/make the best of the fight against gravity etc!

OP, I'm 53 and feeling the same! I particularly dislike my droopy eyelids and the beginnings of saggy jowls... I've started doing some face yoga in the last few weeks, and I'm not sure if I'm imagining things but it seems to be making a tiny difference. I'll have to take some pictures soon an d compare with the ones I took when I started! There's a lot of videos on YouTube and Facebook groups as well.

princessTiasmum · 03/01/2020 12:32

What has made the biggest difference to me is cheek fillers, can't believe the difference they have knocked 10 years off me, and last quite a long time
I don't do botox, did it once and ended up with 2 black eyes
Tried a NU FACE device, made no difference to jowls, which is the only thing i need to get rid of
I look after my skin.and used RetinA about twice a week, with moisturiser

SebandAlice · 03/01/2020 12:36

Apparently filler in the temples lifts the whole face. I have not tried it but have lifted my temples slightly in the mirror and the difference is huge.

BigButtons · 03/01/2020 13:51

The most obvious change in me from exercising is the fullness of my cheeks and lifted temples.

SebandAlice · 03/01/2020 14:00

What exercises do you do BigButtons and how long before you saw a difference? I have done facial exercises in the past much to my family’s great amusements but I have never done them for longer than a couple of weeks.

febel · 03/01/2020 17:37

I have bought a facial exercises book....but that's as far as I got! Fillers sound interesting...but scary!

Micro current is very good, look up research on line. Its proven to increase atp production which increases collagen and elastin, and it shortens muscles helping to return them to their original shape.

Ffsseriously · 03/01/2020 17:57

I have had 6 treatments and there is a noticeable difference, in jowls, marionette lines and nasio labial folds.

FrangipaniBlue · 03/01/2020 19:08

CACI non surgical facelift.

I had a course of 10 over a month and now have once monthly top ups - my skin is visibly tauter and my eye bags and jowels lifted.

FrangipaniBlue · 03/01/2020 19:10

CACI is micro current what @Ffsseriously has mentioned

Trudy2123 · 03/01/2020 19:26

Mine too! How do you find somewhere reputable for fillers etc? Is it word of mouth, website, is there a professional body one should look for?

BigButtons · 04/01/2020 10:12

@SebandAlice I have been doing them on and off for years. Some progs were simply too time consuming to be practical.
Now I do them about 5 days a week for about 20 mins a time.
I will often do an exercise as and when I remember during the day.
They have made a difference for sure but are not a quick fix. But are free. I cannot afford these expensive salon treatments so have to find other ways round it.
