Help! Where does your stylish 35-40 year old male OH shop?

My DH seems to have hit a bit of a personal style crisis. He has work clothes sorted but after that he doesn’t know where to shop or what to wear.

He has always been a bit on the indie/britpop/leaning toward seventies side but as he gets older he is starting to feel a bit like he is dressing too young for his greying hair and developing wrinkles. Grin
I think he looks lovely in whatever he wears but he is obviously feeling self conscious and I think he could do with a nudge toward the right direction.

Obviously not everyone has the same taste (and my DH isn’t into flashy labels or the likes of Superdry etc.) but it would be great to get an idea of some of the places your stylish OHs or male friends shop.

All Saints
Reiss
Basic t shirts from River Island, slim fit
Hugo Boss
Gap
Top Shop for some bits

Dh is very into fashion- he’s much trendier than me. BlushGrin He is a bit younger at 33 but he mainly shops at Asos and H and M. He also buys quite a lot of sportswear type stuff directly from the Adidas website as they have a lot of offers. He is very into “brands” whereas I couldn’t care less...!

John Smedley and Diesel are my oh's faves (if your budget stretches that far). John Smedley in particular do very stylish tops for middle aged men - I often see them on the match of the day pundits Grin

Reiss, All Saints and Filipa K (although the later is harder to find in the UK)

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 29/12/2019 16:39

Matalan H&M, Primark for basics - plain tees, jeans, ect
River Island/Topman/Burton (outfit) - teeshirts with large print on the front
Thomas Pink/Hugo Boss/John Lewis/Next - shirts, tied, suits, smart trousers
Superdry - coats and hoodies
Office and Schuh for shoes, he also wears DC and Vans as every day shoes (teeshirts, jeans and skate shoes, basically an over grown teenager at 33 🙈)
Ryderwear (online) - gym gear

Thank you all so much, I’ll let him know about all of these.
I had forgotten about Reiss!

How about...
Oipolloi - shops in Manchester and London and also online. If he’s into the indie look this might be up his street.
End clothing - online.
Folk
Carhartt

My OH is a bit older(well, a lot older!) and loves a Paul Smith t shirt. Also Finisterre because he's quite outdoorsy.

elliemcx · 29/12/2019 20:08

Cos, Zara and the odd designer piece mixed in.

John Lewis has some great brands and that's where DH goes (although he is mid 40s).

Whilst I can only talk from a female perspective, the personal styling there is great. It's free and I got a brilliant work wardrobe sorted in a couple of hours.

MyHairNeedsASnip · 29/12/2019 20:12

What about Pretty Green, Pull & Bear? River Island has some nice bits too.

My DP does spend a lot on clothes (MUCH more than me) and always looks beautifully dressed. He buys from Paul Smith, Ted Baker, Reiss, Folk, Paige jeans, Maison Kitson, APC among others, always in the sales and with at least 50% off. I think the main thing for him is that all the clothes he buys from these brands have labels that are either very subtle or not there at all, he’d never buy something with an obvious label on it. He’s got a lot of clothes and buys maybe 2-3 items max each sale time because they last really well.

Flannels
Paul Smith
Hugo Boss

BanKittenHeels · 29/12/2019 22:56

Thank you all ever so much, I’m forwarding these all onto him.
I think it is really impacting him. He used to be very fashionable and is generally stylish without effort but I think years of small children and incredibly hard study for work he feels like part of fashion and style has slid by without him noticing but he feels funny asking his friends.

Dh seems to have a uniform of checked shirts from jack wills (I feel like a pensioner going in there)
Skinny jeans from John Lewis and vans trainers
