Natural looking lipstick?

theatrenerd31 · 28/12/2019 23:56

I'm struggling to find the right shade of natural lipstick. I'm using no 7 in "honey bloom" at the moment, but it just does look quite right - slightly too brown I think. Google's recommending pillow talk by Charlotte Tillsbury but I'm not sure I can justify £25 on one lipstick, especially without being able to test it first!

Can anyone recommend a good natural shade please? I'm naturally very pale, but my lips are quite pink. Hoping to find a "my lips but better" type of shade but failing miserably so far!

Mac velvet teddy.

whymewhyme · 29/12/2019 07:05

Primark lipsticks are amazing and dirt cheap, i usually only wear high end...not anymore!!

Sexnotgender · 29/12/2019 07:47

My absolute favourite daily lipstick is urban decay comfort matte in criminal.

I’m pale (NC15) and it’s just enough to make me look finished.

I don’t suit brown toned lipstick, MAC velvet teddy got worn once and swiftly given to my delighted teenage daughter.

Honeybee85 · 29/12/2019 07:50

For those who mention MAC Velvet Teddy, is any of your familiar with MAC Lust lipglass? It has been my MLBB gloss for ages and after googling Velvet Teddy it seems the colours are very similar.
Anyone knows if they are too in reality?

Following

I have pillow talk, I really like it and it suits me (I'm an autumn if that helps?) But I don't think it's super natural, it definitely makes me feel quite dressed up

Gilbert82 · 29/12/2019 08:14

The superstar lips version of pillow talk is lovely. Natural and more of a balmy/glossy look and feel rather than matte

Paddyodoors · 29/12/2019 08:19

Max Factor "Simply Nude" is my go-to nude lipstick.

Girlintheframe · 29/12/2019 08:20

Avon have some fantastic nude shades. I've tried them all including BB, CT, MAC etc. Avon is the only item in my make up bag I couldn't live without.

LidlDonkey · 29/12/2019 08:32

Try Rimmell Heather Shimmer. Looks like normal lip colour on me.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 29/12/2019 08:37

A nice pinkish nude is L'Oreal Bois de Rose - looks like nothing in the tube but works brilliantly with my lip colour and is nice and moisturising.

BloggersNetwork · 29/12/2019 08:42

The thing is all lipsticks will look different on each individual, and not just because of skin tone and natural colour of lips, but also because of body temperature. I have just turned 50 and find that my go to lipsticks turn darker and warmer on my lips. I have wasted so much money on lipsticks that look a cool natural pinky mauve but then turn toffee on me!

thecatfromjapan · 29/12/2019 08:42

We can't tell you on here - we don't know your skin tone or hair colouring!

You need to go to a good make-up counter & either experiment or get advice from the person on it.

(& I like the idea of just buying a range from Primark & experimenting.)

SurpriseSparDay · 29/12/2019 08:58

We can't tell you on here ...

And yet - we’re having so much fun trying.

Sammi38 · 29/12/2019 08:59

I’d also recommend CT Pillow Talk, and also the matching lip liner. I agree it’s pricey, but it stays on all day and doesn’t dry the lips.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 29/12/2019 10:03

Clinique Super Strawberry Chubby Stick.

theatrenerd31 · 29/12/2019 10:07

Thank you for the replies! Much as I agree that nobody can say what'll definitely work it's massively helpful to have some ideas thrown at me. I've wasted so much money on lipsticks that don't work and struggle with knowing where to start on the counters as so many look different in the tube to on application, and annoyingly our best local shop for makeup counters with advisors has the counters placed away from all windows with very dim lighting so it's difficult to gauge what actually works and what doesn't in there! I'm making a list of suggestions to find and sample to give me a good starting point! :)

I don't like Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk - found it a bit Emperors New Clothes.

I like various Bobbi Browns and Clarins Lip Perfector Shade 7 Toffee Pink Shimmer is my favourite natural look on my lips .

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/12/2019 10:35

Of you go to a Mac when it's quiet, they'll put a shade on for you then you can go and see what you look like in various lights and go back and bu y it later. I find Mac less scary than some of the others!

I like Clinique Bare Pop lipstick

Layoverlife · 29/12/2019 14:30

Agree with other posters regarding primark lipsticks, excellent value and brilliant to try out and not feel like you have wasted money, a few of my fave go to listicks are primark ones.... love them!

Also following the thread for any new recommendations Smile

Jedstre · 29/12/2019 14:52

The best nude I’ve found is Bobbi Brown lip gloss in Buff.

It seems to just enhance my lip colour and people often comment on it and ask what I’m wearing. I’m pale skin, blonde hair.

justaweeone · 29/12/2019 16:43

I think this is just a good as C T
