Braces/veneers

I have a very large gap in my 2 front teeth and they are at a funny angle too (just the two front ones) so it looks like they are sloping backwards. The rest of my top teeth are fine.
I'd like to maybe get braces for the top row only, the bottom ones are jacked up too but can't afford both. Otherwise, veneers/crowns just for the 2 front teeth.
Has ajybody ever had or know of anyone that's had a gap closed ? If so which option did you choose and were you able to put a payment plan in place ? Was there a large initial payment ? Thank you

I had my gap filled by an Inman aligner. It took 14 weeks. Cost was about £1k. That was a good few years ago now but I recommend it. Have a google.

My time would have been less if I wasn’t a front facing role at work so I could have kept it in for more hours.

I had a brace to close my gaps a few years ago and then recently had composite bonding on 3 front teeth and 2 new crowns. First pic is before obviously and underneath after I had the braces on (metal train track) for 18 months.......last picture is of now after the bonding, cheaper version of veneers.
If your teeth are uneven I’m guessing you would need braces first before anything else.
Paid in install nets for the braces and then paid in full for the crowns and bonding.

Wow, monkey, what a transformation! What’s the difference between bonding and veneers?

Mystiquesummer · 26/12/2019 11:41

Not 100% sure if i'm right but I think bonding just adds to the existing tooth whereas veneers involve filing down the teeth and placing the veneer over the top ?

I've seen some Groupon offers for 1 arch of braces for £700 in my area ! Hopefully can save that up within a year, don't want to get anything on finance again if I can avoid it.

As mystique said, bonding is a thin layer over existing teeth, no messing about with teeth like veneers. For my braces I paid each time I went, so couple of hundred every 8 weeks when I had them tightened, I didn’t want to take out a loan or finance.

Turd- bonding cost about £99 per tooth, I had 3 front teeth done, other tooth is a crown as needed new one anyway.

I've seen a few aligners you can order online for around £30-40 overall, from companies like Looshie and Smilekit. They have good reviews but i'm wondering if they are a waste of money and too good to be true.

Thanks for the info, bonding sounds a lot less invasive.

I wonder how they would be so cheap, OP. I’m not sure I’d trust something off the shelf for teeth, I wonder if you could do harm?

threesecrets · 26/12/2019 14:40

Bonding is £150-250 per tooth
Braces vary from £2k - 5k

Mystiquesummer · 26/12/2019 15:05

Would bonding be possible to fill a large gap between two front teeth ?

Invisalign sorted my very overcrowded crossed over teeth. No extractions. Find an orthodontist rather than a cosmetic dentist.

StellaRockafella · 26/12/2019 15:14

Possibly. Bonding can build up teeth but if the gap is large, a brace might be the only option.

You're best off seeking a consultation with a dentist to see what can actually be done for your particular needs as it's not a one size fits all solution.

boredboredboredboredbored · 26/12/2019 16:32

I think it will depend on the condition of your teeth. When I went for a consultation my dentist advised me to have my front 4 teeth veneered (two were chipped, one was a crown, one was perfect) as these are the 4 you see when you smile.

I went for it and have had them for 3 years and at 2.5k (not easily affordable for me) it's been the best money I ever spent. They look amazing Grin
