Casual but dressed up for Christmas day

Looking for some inspiration as to what to wear Christmas day. Ideally I would like something casual but that looks like I've made an effort. My teenage girls can get away with leggings and a top and look gorgeous. Unfortunately at 5'2 and a size 14 I would look like a sack of potatoes. I need something not too warm as I will be cooking dinner, and something that will withstand crawling around on the floor with my too grandsons. Can anyone help me find the impossible.

Laura Ashley have 50% off.
Russet velvet look cords and nice t shirt , with shirt or cardy.

I got some burgundy velvet jeans from Lands End last year. Stretchy, comfy, washable but festive looking - I wore mine with a thin black jumper last year and felt 'dressed up' enough.

Coated (or not) black skinnies and a loose top with a bit of sparkle? Boots/ slippers as appropriate.

Meant to say, they have them again this year and there's always a voucher code around if you Google.

Tesco also have loads of party clothing in sales.

This is what I have, I'm 5ft 1 and a flabby size 12, it looks quite nice on

Loved the lands end cords but out of stock in my size in the burgundy. I have some coated skinnies in black and burgundy just need a nice cool Christmassy top.

I think I'm going for oversized jumper tucked in at the front to a midi (heading towards maxi) slip skirt and trainers
