Need a cream for dehydrated and sensitive skin

This central heating/cold wind is wreaking havoc with my skin.

I'm currently using Avene hydrance optimale riche but my face is just drinking it up at the moment and I'm having to reapply it throughout the day. If I don't I can feel my cheeks going tighter and dry patches appear.

Oh, I also have sensitive skin which just makes this whole thing much easier Hmm

Does anyone have suggestions? TIA

I’m a dry skinned lizard and I move between Avene and Vichy. The go way to go in winter is Vichy Aqualia. The day one for dry skins with the serum underneath on damp skin. I also have the Vichy Thermal to slather on at night. My skin feels miles better. 22% off Look Fantastic or one of those companies today. Boots is doing a 3 for 2, too.

When my skin plays up in the cold I use Neutrogena Comfort Balm on it. Boots sell it in the body lotion area, but I find it gentle enough to use even around my eyes. In the evening I use it as a night cream and for daytime a thin layer almost like a serum, under some spf moisturiser. My skins calms down very quickly and stays that way. It's very cheap as well Grin

Clinique moisture surge ?

AppleSighDuh · 22/12/2019 16:39

La Roche Posay lipikar baume AP+. Slap loads onto a damp face before bed, same again in the morning but a smaller amount. It's like magic.

ChequerBoard · 22/12/2019 20:16

I would really recommend a serum for sensitive dry skin. I use Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective after cleansing and leave to settle in for a good 20mjns before applying my moisturiser. The difference this has made to my skin is amazing. No longer red and sensitive and no longer dry.

Catworrier · 22/12/2019 20:41

The ordinary hydrochloric serum. It's incredible. And cheap. And pure ingredients.

TableNiner · 22/12/2019 20:46

Yes some hyaluronic acid applied to damp skin could help

HarrietThePi · 22/12/2019 20:49

Hyaluronic acid has always dried my skin for some reason. I get very dry skin this time of year too. The best thing for me is that really thick Nivea in the blue tub. I put it on overnight as it's way too thick to put on in the day time. It's worked better than some far more expensive creams I've tried

Tryalittletenderness · 22/12/2019 21:04

Nivea Q10 night cream, I wear it daytime & during the night too. I have never found anything better.

Christmassoon · 23/12/2019 01:57

Kiehls as a brand is worth looking at.

ChishandFips33 · 23/12/2019 03:47

Boots Traditional glycerin and rose water is a moisturiser and humectant. Cheap too at under £3

ParadiseLaundry · 23/12/2019 04:22

Yes some hyaluronic acid applied to damp skin could help

This and then a moisturiser with another humectant such as glycerin in it. If you are in doors with the heating you can use a facial spray like a toner to mist your face to 'feed' the hyaluronic acid to keep your face hydrated.

SnuffleBadger · 23/12/2019 04:36

I use la Roche posay hyalu B5 serum followed by their toleriane riche cream. Has worked miracles for my dehydrated, sensitive, reactive skin

YahBasic · 23/12/2019 04:43

I need to apply Clarins Blue Orchid oil onto slightly damp skin, then Kiehls Ultra Facial cream over the top.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 23/12/2019 05:08

La Roche Posay, I use their cica paste at night and rosaliac during the day however I think anything by this brand will help.

Only thing that helps and doesn't sting and burn my face ..and my face often feels and looks burnt. These bring it back down

AutumnRose1 · 24/12/2019 09:43

watching this thread with interest as I get what my doctor calls "pre-eczema". I mean, I have eczema as well! But she reckons that certain preventative things should work and tells me to use Dermol.

the most common thing for me is in winter, I have to wear thicker socks etc when running and around my ankles just gets rubbed raw.

Is La Roche Posay helpful with that sort of thing? I really can't think what to do about it, I feel like I've tried everything.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 24/12/2019 10:20

Keep the moisturiser.

Add a hyaluronic serum under it. Hada Labo premium lotion is great, very good value. Buy the original not the U.K. version.

Or any other hyaluronic serum, the ordinary, the inkey list, etc.

Oils. Seriously. My skin has been a nightmare my entire life and winter is usually awful. Since I’ve been using facial oils (and acids) I’ve had so many compliments on my skin. It’s glowy and lovely and no dry patches!

Thecrown3 · 24/12/2019 10:46

Hi
I work outside all day every day.i get this often, I’ve actually gone back to astral and Vaseline after trying all the more expensive creams like avene, 8 hr balm etc.
Astral is thick but moisturising and I alternate nights with thin layer of Vaseline too.it helps massively as my face can get very wind chapped too.
Try going back to basics with the creams , astral is about £4 for a big tub and can use on body too x

Origins 'Ginzeng energy boosting gel moisturiser' is excellent for my sensitive skin when it's dehydrated which is it at the moment and I notice the difference straight away.
