Need new moisturiser but don't know where to start!

I'm in my early 30s, and for the last 18 months or so I've been using Garnier Moisture Bomb moisturiser (www.amazon.com/Garnier-SkinActive-Moisturizer-Hyaluronic-Ounce/dp/B01M7TXCK3), which I got in the US but can't find over here. I thought I liked it, as it's more like a gel than a cream, and when I was younger (with oilier skin), this kind of thing was perfect. Before that, I was using Superdrug's Tea Tree moisturiser for many years, but was finding it wasn't moisturising enough for my skin anymore, hence the change.

But I think the Garnier one might actually be quite bad for my skin, and I have no idea where to start in finding a new one. I've disliked the way my skin has been looking for some time now, but didn't make the connection until this weekend when I visited my mum and she commented that my cheeks and forehead were looking quite red and inflamed. Now that I think of it, my skin does feel a bit uncomfortable — I think I'd just got used to it.

In the past when I tried thick cream moisturisers, I never liked them because they made me feel itchy and uncomfortable, so I don't really know where to go from here. I did have a sample of an Estee Lauder cream a few years ago that I used on the apples of my cheeks (as they tend to get drier) while I was still using the Superdrug moisturiser everywhere else, and though I loved it, I felt it was too thick for the rest of my face. Is that a brand I should revisit? I just looked up the price and it's very expensive(!), so I only want to go there if I'm confident it'll be worth the investment!

I'd be so grateful for some advice, as I don't know how to deal with my changing skin, and I don't want to spend loads of money on moisturisers that might turn out to be bad for me (so being able to try them out first would be a big plus). I don't know if maybe I need different moisturisers for different parts of my face, or if there's something out there that will sort out the whole lot. Hit me with your suggestions please! :)

Nivea soft. The one in the white and blue tube. Cheap as chips and works well.

I wear it day time only, never moisturise at night, as it softens and wrinkles the skin, apparently.

Look up dr drey - she’s a dermatologist on YouTube. All kinds of good recommendations for all kinds of skin.
