Hey

I was pg the last two winters and this year (hurrah!) I can actually wear normal clothes. I'm a SAHM now so my old winter wardrobe consists of suits and TM Lewin shirts - GAG -

this summer I mostly ran around in jeans or cropped khaki trousers and smocky tops with flip flops. What on earth should be my look now though? I feel like I've landed on a new planet and have no idea what to wear...

was thinking of doing flat boots (pull on riding boots?) and lots of knee length sortof flared skirts with tights - but what do you wear on top? A smocky top on a skirt looks like a wedding cake!! I need warm stuff but please, no rollneck jumpers and have no norks to speak of so wrap tops are out. V necks suit me best really.

any fab ideas??? help!!!!

boots & skirts v good plan - get boots with an inch or two of (block) heel though, much more flattering than truly flat ones and just as comfy.
I wear v-neck 3/4 sleeve t-shirts or fine gauge jumpers with skirts, but no reason why you shouldn't drag the Lewin shirts out again (also v good with jeans).
Key with full skirts is tops that are fitted round waist to emphasise hourglassiness.

and as a no-norker you should positively embrace rollnecks - they look v elegant.

thanks MrsB - I truly feel am a blind woman shopping nowadays.

where to get v-neck tops you mentioned? the ones I've got are maybe 8 years old and look like it!

ahem though, no hourglass me. Maybe a pear on a good day. Otherwise just slightly lumpy tree trunk. I believe the word someone once used was "statuesque." Blech.

will be baKC tomorrow, sorry

MrsBadger · 24/08/2007 10:26

sorry, the cub called...

Mine are from (variously) Gap, Principles and Dorothy Perkins - the latter do a great range of jumpers thus too.
Cheapsh is better than pricey as I find tops are one of the things I get bored of v fast so need to have lots and rotate them and/or top up collection often

Be wary of vneckss if you truly have no norks as they may not be doing you the favours you think they are - just try some with this sort of shape neckline and watch as it conjures hourglassiness by making shoulders look wide hence waist small.

I think smock tops would work ok with a shortish straight skirt and opaque tights. Would second the boot suggestion.

try great plains and french connection for funkyish but not tov out there skirts and lots of lovely tops - jersey and knits to layer - the colours this year are fab.

lilQuidditchKel · 24/08/2007 13:53

thanks ladies - that top at Dotty P looks to be the right shape for me, thanks MrsB!!!

Funny thing is, my shoulders are naturally broad so no help needed there. It just makes the small nork issue even tougher to dress. I find layering (ala Trinny) is the only way to really add bulk/interest in the right place. Throw a round neck top on me and I look like a rugby player! Hope this long dangly necklace fad doesn't go away anytime soon I'm loving that too!

Great Plains etc here I come...

You could try gel bras Lilkel (said as 1 no-norker to another)
Actually as I'm bf at the moment I'm finding it hard to get used to the (to me) Dolly Parton look and kind of miss my small norks

lilQuidditchKel · 24/08/2007 19:21

lol sputnik, for the brief time i coaxed mine into acting as human bottles, they seemed gi-normous to me too! they jiggled so much it was quite distracting. thank god i'm back to my 'athletic' self and can go running again...
