How to treat adult acne

I feel so down about my skin at the moment. I’ve had acne since I was a teenager and it shows no signs of improving, in fact I feel like it’s getting worse, particularly in the colder weather. I’ve tried all the treatments under the sun but nothing has worked. Does anyone have any recommendations on anything that has proven to work for them? I’ve thought about giving up sugar or dairy but apparently there’s no scientific evidence to say diet actually makes a difference. I’d be grateful for any suggestions.

Go and get an allergy test, I'm in my late 20s and turns out my food allergies (which I didn't know I had or never suspected) where causing the acne. since I stopped eating the said foods, my face is clean now.

I don’t want to jinx it, but having suffered with acne since early teens I’ve been pretty much clear the last year.

Only change I made was using Silver Serum as a moisturiser, having read someone rave about it on here.

All I do to my face now is cleanse with either Dove sensitive soap or Johnson’s Clean and Clear and apply the Silver Serum and tough wood, I haven’t had any more spots.

The only thing that clears my acne is Dianette. My acne is hormonal and Dianette is highly anti-androgen is so works brilliantly.

@Monday55 what kind of allergy test did you have?

Monday55 · 15/12/2019 20:50

@KingaRoo it was a blood test, went to a private clinic.

Medical clinic or allergy clinic?

The thing for me is that my skin has been fine for a year or so and suddenly got back but no change in diet. But I'm interested in allergy testing. Just want to make sure its scientifically evidenced.

Got bad. Really need to proofread!

Dermatica sorted my skin out so much. I had tretinoin with clindamycin for a couple of months, and then moved onto the anti aging subscription and just have tretinoin now. I had to stop using it for a few months for different reasons and my skin was not bad the whole time, just the odd spot or two preceeding my periods. I'm back to using it for anti aging now.

It's £23 a month but I get mine about every 6 Weeks because it lasts at least that long, and that's using it on my face, neck and décolleté nightly. Well worth it imo.
