Buying glasses online

Has anyone ever bought glasses online? I've got a copy of my prescription and am fed up eu specsavers. Glasses got loose and apparently it's not wear and tear. So I want to buy another pair more cheaply but not from them! If you have, then which website please? Thanks in advance

I have bought both prescription glasses and sunglasses from glassesusa.com (pretty sure they only ship to USA and Canada), but I'm sure most of the sites in the UK would be similar. The glasses are great and way cheaper than buying them at our opticians.

I use glasses direct, very good service, very good price, a lot of the time they can send you up to 4 frames to try at home free, they come boxed with a free post return address, easy.

I also use Glasss Direct.

If you have a fairly high prescription / high myopia (-5.5 ish plus) I wouldn’t buy glasses online. You need to have measurements taken whilst wearing the actual glasses to ensure that your pupils are in the correct place when they’re made up - otherwise you can strain your eyes and end up wearing completely the wrong prescription without realising it because the thickness of the lenses and the way they are cut changes with the shape of the glasses and your eyes.

(I’m -9.50 and would never buy my glasses online for that reason. Asda opticians are the cheapest high street ones).

Fairylea when you go to the opticians, do they put something on the lens when you look through it to make sure the lens will be fitted correctly?

Fairylea · 08/12/2019 18:53

Yes, and they manually measure as well. I’ve just ordered a new pair of glasses this week and the optician took about 3 or 4 different measurements to make sure the lens is placed in the right place for my pupil to look through.

I have a simple prescription for reading glasses, been buying from Glasses Direct since SpecSavers had three attempts to make me glasses that I was unable to read through!
Bought two pairs recently with a Martin Lewis discount code for £14.00.
