Plus size sportswear for my mum...

For my mum’s Christmas present I’m hoping to get her some nice clothes for Pilates - she’s got a knee replacement op coming up in the new year, and is a bit limited in what exercise she can do. She’s interested in trying Pilates but is put off by ‘not having the right clothes.’
She’s a 22 top, 20 bottom, but quite petite so big tenty/drapey t-shirts tend to look ridiculous - she’s much better in stuff that’s relatively fitted. I can only find the tent-like stuff in her size! Any suggestions for nice brands I could look at? Thanks v much!

contra-movement.com - ethical brand (so a bit pricey) and with a philosophy that size is no barrier to activity

Otherwise, try Decathlon (excellent quality, can't really be beaten for VFM)

Or TKMaxx whuchsometines has really good stuff

ASOS curve is pretty good - mix of prices and brands. And I think sainsburys also go up to a 24.
I also got some nice stuff from H&M plus.

And decathlon, although I find the XL leggings are good, the XXL tops are a bit tight and too short for me - I'm an 18 on top, but if you're mum is short, the tops might work.

Next have curve sizes on line

Please reassure her that a good pilates class won't care at all what she's wearing! I'm a 50-something size 16 and I wear a t-shirt I bought on holiday and non-sporty Sainsburys leggings to mine. Other class members wear similar, but also loose-ish jersey trousers. It is the best exercise, and a good teacher will be so inclusive that your Mum can turn up in anything and it won't be a problem!

I am about the same size as her and I have a horror of all the lycra gym clothes that are form-fitting. All the tops are really short so I find it really highlights my tummy. Which is not part of me I wish to draw attention to.

I wear yoga pants that are knee length. They are looser but solid material, and are comfy for exercising in. On top I wear a standard T-shirt but not a massive oversize one. Just a normal one that I would wear normally in the summer. Put together the outfit is something I can wear to pop into the shop on the way there/way home without feeling ridiculous, which I would if I were in the full "gym" outfit.
