Big boobs & winter jumpers

Birthdaycakemondays · 06/12/2019 11:33

I have big boobs & with breast feeding very big boobs currently. I find winter jumpers really make them look even bigger! Any tips on winter jumpers to minimise breast size or even just not make them look 4 sizes bigger?!

Apologies for how terribly written that was. I’m at crazy soft play!

No but I feel your pain. V necks if you can find them I guess but hard this year. Maybe a long necklace to break up the bosom.

I love a jumper but find them so hard to get right

Birthdaycakemondays · 06/12/2019 13:45

Yeah don’t see many v necks this time of year @Fredy45! It’s tough. I love a jumper, Jean, boot combo but just look so top heavy!

I find scoop necks work almost as well as v necks and are marginally less difficult to find. Also wider leg bottoms or flared skirts balance it out a bit.

I mostly just put up with it though I care more about not being cold than looking a bit top heavy.

I also feel your pain. Wide necked jumpers are good and I often get those from Gap, and DD (who has inherited my figure) recently got one from Primark.

The other way, which I do a lot is wide necked top under a cardigan - the double vertical lines of a cardigan really do help.

Avoid fluffy, rib or cable ones, and avoid polo necks.
Avoid a slogan across the chest.
Button-up cardigans in a fairly light knit work well.

AutumnConker · 06/12/2019 16:31

I'm the same op.

I wear cardigans more. Alot of jumpers make me look massive in every way! It makes me v self-concious, I really dislike it. An electrician came round yesterday and just stared at my chest several times - and I had a baggy M&S jumper on that I thought was quite modest.

IME, occasional scoop or wide neck jumper works in thin-ish material. It depends so much on the "the cut" too.

MustardScreams · 06/12/2019 16:34

Avoid anything chunky. Finer knits that skim features tend to look better. No polo necks or you just end up looking like a head on boobs!

I also find looser fitting jeans look better with a jumper if large of chest.

H&M do nice boatneck jumpers that break up the top half a bit.

MikeUniformMike · 06/12/2019 16:49

OP, I am skinny (not in a good way), am quite bosomy for my size and I wear ones in thinnish material that skims. A gorgeous fluffy roll neck I have makes me look fat and busty - a head on boobs.

I have a big ribby loose jumper with a sort of cowl neck and that looks nice.

You are breastfeeding - it is ok to have large boobs. Wear what you like or a serape or something. Be warm and comfy.

herecomesthsun · 06/12/2019 17:04

Cardies are indeed good.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 06/12/2019 17:12

Button up cardigans? How do you button them up? (NOTHING buttons up my front without gaping or buying an enormous size).

Do you just button up to your boobs and wear a vest underneath?

MikeUniformMike · 06/12/2019 17:57

wear a vest ot t-shirt in the same (or different, if you like) colour underneath, button up some or all of the buttons, whichever ones look best for you.

This sort of look:

Yes, mine are from M&S but they look ok.

partysong · 06/12/2019 18:34

Boohoo do a few v neck jumpers

TheLightGetsIn · 06/12/2019 19:33

I have had some brilliant ones from Hobbs in the past. Wide neck (somewhere between crew neck and boat neck/scoop neck), fine knit merino wool, skim the body, and - crucially - longer length with a fitted band at the bottom around the hips. Avoid anything square or baggy at the hem like the plague if you don't want to gain 3 dress sizes instantly.

sonjadog · 06/12/2019 20:26

Nothing chunky or with any kind of pattern (so none of the cable knits, sadly). I find fine knits and layering them looks best. Also slightly longer jumpers. The ones that stop at waist line are not flattering on me, but that might just be me.

Nomorewineever · 06/12/2019 20:43

All the above and... (size 14 but G cup)

  • wear a scoop vest with a loose edge to edge or
Swing shape cardi.
  • wear thinner fine knit sweaters - and skim rather than cling or hang.
  • as above - v neck with a layered vest under is better than a higher neck
  • 3/4 sleeve also works well as it balances better
SnugglySnerd · 06/12/2019 20:46

Have you tried the clothes they do in Bravissimo?

managedmis · 06/12/2019 20:59

I wore a roll neck yesterday which I love because of the colour but honestly it makes me boobs look huge. And they're not even that big!

So avoid those

managedmis · 06/12/2019 20:59

Nothing chunky

^^

This too. Avoid like the plague

duckyolucky · 07/12/2019 07:35

Yep, a thick jumper is a guaranteed way to may me look bigger than I am & matronly. I don't like v-necks as I think they are a bit frumpy. I prefer jersey sweaters as opposed to knitwear & the only knitwear that works is the very fine wool/mohair type that hangs nicely.
