Ethical, sustainable fashion brands

I caught the end of a radio programme about fast fashion last night (worth a listen), and it has got me thinking again about the clothes that I buy for myself and my children. I tend to mostly wear second hand at the moment, but would like to occasionally buy a few new things but not sure where to look. I'd like to support small, ethical businesses but it's almost impossible to find them without already knowing their name as they obviously don't have big online marketing campaigns!

So, I was wondering if we could have a thread recommending our favourite ethical and sustainable brands to help each other find them in an online world that does not favour small businesses?! I'm keen to buy some ethical gifts for Christmas, so recommendations for ethical, sustainable businesses that make clothes or houseware would be much appreciated.

I'll start Grin. I've come across this amazing brand disorderboutique.com/
The style isn't really 'me' unfortunately but I love their ethics and how they produce their garments.

Thanks Grin

Lots of Scandi brands are organic cotton with ethical manufacturing standards and have something for kids and women. For example Duns Sweden, Maxomorra, Villervalla and Papu Stories. They are mostly sold by independent online retailers in the UK.

I'm a big fan of Lucy & Yak and Gudrun Sjoden as already mentioned by others.

Seasalt is quite good as well, lots of organic cotton.

Also have a look on Babipur, they are not just baby stuff but also adult clothes, homewares, toiletries and so on.

I love Little Green Radicals for kids' clothes. I like Thought for me.

Lots of brands are now sustainable . Browsing Farfetch they state which item is positively conscious, also places like Smallable have a whole section dedicated to greenable brands for women and kids. They are the usual brands like Gianni, Veja, APC. I think their approach is now focused on highlighting quality over quantity, fewer produced items means fair wage , less impact on the environment.
