Thread veins/ broken capillaries

Hi, I’ve got these on both sides of my nose. They are pretty noticeable and I feel very self conscious about them.
About a year ago I had a couple of sessions of laser treatment on them. It was very expensive and it appeared to be very successful, with all of the veins disappearing. However, over the following weeks they all gradually reappeared. It was like they had been pushed under the surface and bobbed back up again. The lady who carried out the procedure said that they should break up under the skin and be reabsorbed back into the bloodstream. This clearly didn’t happen. I have since consulted another practitioner who said that the reason they didn’t go away was because the veins on the side of my nose are only small parts of much longer veins under the skin and you have to break down the whole vein, not just the bit you see on the side of the nose, and if only the visible section is targeted, like before when they zapped the sides of my nose, then the blood would disappear from that section but would later be refilled by blood from further along the vein. It would be nearly impossible to kill off the whole vein as most of it is under the skin.
Does anyone know who is correct? I really want to have them lasered again but it’s a lot of money to spend if it’s not going to work. Or any other suggestions gratefully received!

No advice but I have these too so will watch this thread with interest. Was the laser treatment painful? Expensive? I've been wondering about getting mine done but don't want to go through pain and expense if the effect is only good for a few weeks!

Gently bumping for you Cool.

I think they need to inject the veins rather than laser them. Scelerotheraphy I think it is called.

LilyJade · 05/12/2019 17:46

Just looked up the injection treatment it's Sclerotherapy for thread veins & varicose veins.

I think that sounds like bullshit to be honest.Ive had laser and IPL treatment by dermatologists and have never been given that explanation. Was she a qualified doctor or a beautician?
Did you have laser or lpl ( intense pulsed light)? Nothing is guaranteed to work as it depends on your skin and it's reaction. IPL didn't do much for me but laser helped significantly. I do need further treatments at a higher intensity to treat the more refractive veins due to rosacea . I do feel your pain as it's so expensive a treatment.

CoolShoeshine · 05/12/2019 18:21

@bellabelly the treatment wasn’t too painful but it was £150 a go and they said it could take up to 10 goes! If it was guaranteed to get rid of them permanently I would have persevered but they didn’t seem particularly certain as to how many goes it might take.
Thanks for the bump starfish and to those who mentioned the injection treatment that sounds interesting, I’ll look it up, thank you

Hmmm. I'm not sure. I know it's not the same but I'm currently getting my thread veins in my legs lasered and the clinic said most people need 6 treatment sessions. I have had 3 so far and I notice some difference. They said most people see a big difference by the 4th session. I think your treatment sounds very expensive as my lower legs, around 6 areas are £60 a session. So I'll keep going for 6 sessions.
I've had sclerotherapy before on my legs and it totally didn't work. Made them worse actually.

Thanks, @CoolShoeshine - that's useful to know.
