Rotating hair brush!

readingismycardio · 03/12/2019 10:04

Hi everyone,

I keep hearing about the babyliss big hair & I've been wanting myself a rotating hair brush for ages

Do you recommend it? Is it easy to use for "beginners"? Does your hair get stuck in it?

If you don't recommend the big hair, what do you recommend instead?

My hair is shoulder length.

Thanks everyone!Grin

I use mine from really wet or damp hair. It's absolutely incredible!!!! For 40quid it's worth it. I'd pay 100!
I don't ever use straighteners, no product. I get beautiful thick wavy curls in the ends as my hair is long.
When my hair was above shoulders I used it to flick out the layers.
It lasts for 2 or 3 days too.
Also fab if you want to tie it back and just do the front bits of hair.

SheChoseDown · 03/12/2019 17:28

My hair is frizzy, curly and very thick. This sorts it out in no time

ThinkIamflyingundertheradar · 03/12/2019 17:30

Yes, the Revlon brush also rotates like the big hair.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/12/2019 18:15

Does the Revlon rotate? It doesn't on any of the video reviews I've seen.

readingismycardio · 03/12/2019 18:46

Oh God, now I have two choices (and I seem to be terrible at making choices lately). Not sure what to do! Thanks everyone for your time & input, I'll order one tomorrow!

The cord on the revlon rotates so it doesn't get tangled but you have to manually rotate the actual brush yourself. It's never got stuck in my hair though, which is really good.

MayFayner · 03/12/2019 19:10

Aaggh I have been a Parlux purist for years and I only come on these BBH threads to look at the “gathering dust” posts and smugly reassure myself I don’t need any hot brush.

But now I think I need the revlon thing. This is all your fault @ThinkIamflyingundertheradar !

outdamnspotout · 03/12/2019 19:42

I have a long straight bob.
BBH was my go to for years but I've swapped to Revlon.
BBH is probably better for volume, it did make my ends very fragile, however it's probably easier to use. I rough dried first, otherwise it takes ages to fully dry.
Revlon doesn't spin, it has 3 heat settings and you can use it on wet hair. I get a sleeker, smoother finish but less body at the roots.
I'd really like the Dyson Volume and Shape but bring myself to spend £400.

MilliiMoo · 03/12/2019 19:57

Readjngismycardio no my hair is a just above shoulder length shirt bob. I wonder if it's because my hair is fine, although a lot of it. I'm very interested in this Revlon one everyone is talking about though.

ballsdeep · 03/12/2019 20:01

Mine ripped loads of my hair and knotted it too. I looked at loads of YouTube videos and did it exactly the same way. However, I still had to cut chunks out of my hair every time I used it. I do have thick hair

MilliiMoo · 03/12/2019 20:22

Ballsdeep O I'm glad you said it did it to yours with thick hair. Did it to mine with fine (lots of it) hair too

IndieTara · 03/12/2019 21:37

It's all I use to dry my hair. I LOVE Babyliss Big Hair

ThinkIamflyingundertheradar · 04/12/2019 08:36

I’ve just grabbed my Revlon to check and I stand corrected. It doesn’t rotate, but because the cord rotates and it’s got a very smooth coating you can spin it through your hair manually. That’s probably why it doesn’t stretch or snap your hair the way the BH sometimes does.

KatharinaRosalie · 04/12/2019 10:11

I used it a lot, but I did find the brush pulled and damaged my hair somewhat, and also made it a bit fluffy, as it blows hair outwards, obviously. I still have one for my gym bag, but got the Dyson Airwrap for everyday use - much more versatile, and gives volume, but smooth finish.

minipie · 06/12/2019 14:24

Ok so I’ve tried my bbh again and it doesn’t knot (I have thin fine hair) but it does pull out loads of my hair! I’m pulling handfuls of hair off it after use. I moult a lot anyway, don’t need something to pull out more.

Zeebeededodah · 06/12/2019 14:39

I want one of these too. Been looking at the BBH but don't know what barrel size - 50mm, 42mm or 38mm. Any advice - fine shoulder length hair (not sure if growing or will cut shorter again....)?

MilliiMoo · 06/12/2019 18:22

It tends to knot up fine hair terribly to the point you have to cut knots out . Not good. On this thread the Revlon non rotating one has better reviews

jcurve · 07/12/2019 10:54

I’m another huge fan of the Revlon brush. I have slightly longer than shoulder length hair & I can dry in about 10 minutes if I quickly dry my roots with a hair dryer first. It looks as good as when I leave the hairdresser.

itsaldramarama · 08/12/2019 08:56

Just nipped into Aldi last night for milk and came out with the Revlon !! Will test later

userxx · 08/12/2019 11:09

How much was it in Aldi?

itsaldramarama · 08/12/2019 12:02

39.99 same as boots atm . It's managed to tame my frizz and random curls so it's a hit with me

Those who have the Revlon, does it really work on hair that is shoulder length or a bit shorter? The brush diameter looks massive! I have thick hair that is above shoulder but below chin length - wondering if this brush would be too big.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/12/2019 12:21

My general rule is if I buy something in Aldi with the rest of the shopping then it doesn't count...

Aprilcherry04 · 08/12/2019 13:11

Bought the big hair duo a week ago. I have used both size brushes and think the 42mm is best for my chin length Bob. I like it but I wouldn't say it's life changing. I'm hoping to get better results with more practice

ec1993 · 08/12/2019 13:21

I bought myself the babyliss big hair last 2 weeks ago when it was reduced to £20.

I have longish hair, about a third of the way down my back and it's thick, if it dries naturally it's big and wavy with a little frizz to it.

I am useless with hair apart from my straighteners and curling wand but I found this so easy to use .

First I spray on heat protector and dry with a hairdryer from roots down to smooth until about 80% dry, then I use a bit more heat protector and some moisturising serum and I section my hair. I don't find it fiddly and I end up with a nice natural bouncy blow dried look. I then use a little light hairspray and it stays for 3 days (until I wash it again).

Now I'm in my mid to late 20s I prefer the more natural look than dead straight or curled and this is a good tool for an every day naturally polished look xx
