Lands End coats (Stadium Squall) - quality and sizing

Looking for a long coat that is both warm and waterproof and wondering about this one, but quite put off that they don't do free returns as I presume returning a bulky coat is going to cost a fortune if I don't like it in RL...

Does anyone have it, and would you recommend? Also unsure which size to go for - I'm normally a 10 in coats but I gather they come up big, so unsure whether S or XS in Petite is the way to go.

They are good quality.

I find they come up roomy, so would size down.

They don't do free returns any more, but will do free exchange (by refunding your Royal Mail cost) if you are seeking a replacement item - might be worth a quick email to check that change of size is included in that

I've had mine for 10 years and it's still going strong, warm and waterproof. They do come up quite large.

I think I have that one, I also have another. I'm a 14, usually quite comfortably so, and I order this size and find there's plenty of room for layers. The quality of their coats is great. My one of these is a few years old, 4, 5?, and still looks new. It's so warm.

I got stung by the returns cost OP. £13 Made me wince a bit. I tried the squall I think, not the super long one, the one that goes over your mum.
It made me look like an amateur football league coach. Weirdly square, arms too short, shiny and crackly fabric and far too much Velcro.
A shame because I bought one of their long down coats a few years ago and that’s lovely.

How’s over your bum, not mum.

Jesus. I really should have a cup of tea before attempting to post on mumsnet in the morning.

I've had a long down coat of theirs for years and it's been amazing. I bought a UK10 and it's true to size. I'm a regular Lands End customer. I've always been tempted to go with the Squall coat and almost did this winter. But instead I ordered the Seasalt Janelle coat. Expensive, but money well spent!
I alternate my Lands End down coat with the Seasalt janelle coat, which is the best waterproof coat ever. This is a great coat. If I wear it with a thick proper wool jumper underneath and layer, I am very toasty. My down coat from Lands End is perfect for icy cold days when it's dry.
But so far, the janelle coat's been great for mucky, wet dog walks in the cold rain. I am in London though, so not the coldest part of the country. But I've been out there in the cold wind and the rain in the janelle coat and it's been brilliant. It's nicely lined.

DD2 has a long Lands End warerproof coat- not the Squall. It keeps her dry and warm on her walking commute to work and watching sports outdoirs. . It's not the most glamourous though. True to size.

Thanks all. Popped into Debenhams this morning to see if they had the Squall in store and they didn't, but was passing Seasalt and went in to see the Janelle after your recommendation for it as an alternative TheVanguardSix - and they gave me a 20% off code for Black Friday! So I have ended up with that one instead. It's a bit more expensive even with the code but at least I know it fits. It is HUGE though - I am normally a 10, bought an 8, and there is room to spare!
