Sort my skincare

Any skincare experts out there who could possibly advise on improving my skincare regime?!

I am nearly 38, fair skin. Currently a bit dehydrated with slight flakiness on my forehead but no problem with spots or anything. Sometimes get slight irritation if I whack on products too quickly.

Out of laziness I have resorted back to wiping face with Simple micellar water for dehydrated skin, then -

Night - REN ready steady glow AHA lotion (this has been ok) OR The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (on and off). Followed by Weleda Skin food.

Morning - Khiehls ultra facial moisturiser spf 30.

I have the DHC skin oil as I had a view to double cleanse but laziness has set in.

My products are coming to an end and want to treat myself for Christmas. They have been 'ok' but I still think I'm looking like a dehydrated nearly 38 year old, rather than a fresh faced one! I have had a little Botox in the past and don't think I need it again for a while.

Can anyone recommend some wonder products that keep you looking amazing?

Hi Op, I am similar age and skin type. I have in the last 6 months scrapped all my uber fancy skincare and taken up Cerave.
I was frustrated as I was still dehydrated regardless of how much stuff I slapped on.
No offence but wipes are rubbish. Try the hydrating cleanser (pump pack - easy to use) quick cleanse with a flannel and warm water morning and night. Morning I'll add in the ordinary/ inkey list or Aldi 🙈 HA serum or TO matrylixal (?) to the moisturising lotion, followed by sunscreen
Evening - cleanse, TO lactic acid (3 times a week) and on alternate nights vit c powder mixed in with moisturiser or retinol reface (indeed labs) then Cerave cream or lotion moisturiser (season dependant) & sometimes more HA or squalene oil

It's a basic but affordable routine based on lots of HA & ceramides = I look less tired/ dehydrated

-apologies - I read it as micellar wipes not water! Sorry OP 🙈

I can’t really advise, but I’m also 38 and pale. Although my skin is oily and prone to breakouts. I’ve got loads of different skin care, I’ve knocked vit c on the head as it was making my forehead look more liney. At the moment I use;

Am; REN Calm Cleanser
Jurlique rose spray toner
Elemis pro collagen super serum
Lancôme absolue yeux eye cream
Liz Earle skin repair moisturiser

Pm; Liz Earle cleanse and polish
Liz Earle Toner
111skin eye cream
Elemis super serum
Eve Lom moisturiser

2 x a week I do a chemical exfoliant, usually liquid gold as I find it really effective.

I was using a vit c serum and retinol before, but my skin went horrible, as soon as I stopped using them my skin has been great again. We’re all different though and I know lots of people swear by retinol and vit c and they have great results. Just didn’t work for me.

Just to add, I also use an origins spf 40 ginseng tinted moisturiser in the winter and autumn and a kiehls spf 50 in the spring and summer.

@WhatTheFronti wipes are known to feature too at times 🥴

Thanks all for sharing your routines, I am going to look into all these and do my research.

I actually had a trial size for the CeraVe face wash and liked it, so going to give that a bash again with the moisturiser. I like a heavier moisturiser at night so not sure whether to stick with the skin food and get the CeraVe with SPF for day or the thicker moisturiser and use that at night and choose a different SPF? It's a minefield!!

I think I'll ditch my Ordinary retinoid and look into Liquid Gold or something along those lines.
