Does anyone use a face steamer and would you recommend it?

My skin is getting better, but still feel like it needs more ‘cleansing’ to help reduce outbreaks and blackheads.

Does anyone use a steamer anymore? If so what would you recommend?

I had one in my teens.

I think you are better off just pouring boiling water in a bowl and sticking a towel over your head. Cheaper and easier.

I go into the steam room at the gym several times a week and my skin looks mint.

But yeah, I think you can easily make steam for your face with a towel, a kettle, and a bowl.

Empress I had thought that. That’s what I used to do just wondering if there was anything particularly good. May just do this. I suppose I can add my own oils.

We do have a steam room at the gym but I’m so paranoid I’m going to sit on someone by accident I don’t tend to go in Blush

Try the steam room. I had someone ask me this week if I was definitely over eighteen and I'm in my mid thirties!!

I have a basic one (Visiq from Argos) . I love it because it keeps the steam at a steady temperature instead of scalding then cooling which is what happens with a towel draped over a bowl.
I add rosewater to mine. Gorgeous.

I do my own facial using the water/towel/bowl approach - I add either lavender or rose oil and find it really relaxing. I follow the steam with a face mask and my skin is really glowing afterwards.

Thank you very much for the tips. I might start out with the bowl then graduate to a steamer if I feel the bowl isn’t up to standard.

Bloody hell Blue I’ll move into the steam room for that!!

Be careful if you suffer from broken veins, the steat might be too much.

puds11 · 25/11/2019 20:52

morrisey is that steam in general or do you mean specifically from the shop bought ones? I am covered in broken veins (thanks genetics) but my face is one of the only places not riddled!

Heat and steam in particular, I have pale irish heritage, do a bit of research for your skin type. If you need to give your pores a good clear out, a salicylic acid can work wonders. The Ordinary do a good priced one.

BlameItOnTheVodka · 27/11/2019 02:20

I used to use hot water in a bowl during my teens but got a face steamer and its so much easier. At first i had an Argos brand one years ago but last Christmas treated myself to the Beurer FC72 Pureo Ionic Hydration Facial Sauna. Worth the money and i no longer have to struggle carrying a pot of boiling water to the table because its near impossible with my hand condition now.

Thank you morrisey my skin is the same so I should probably avoid it! You learn something new every day! I’ll have a look at the salicylic acid.
