Where can I buy nice jeans (I am not a pipecleaner)

Following "older women's style" thread.

I need some new jeans (don't wear during summer but put on some on Saturday and they were horrid! from Asda I think

What I would like is to get a decent pair but not too expensive (I always go through the left knee for some reason!) - say up to £75?

I have big bum and small waist (relatively) so they need to fit. Hate them too low cut to show big tummy. Can they be stretch I wonder? Anyone got any thoughts?

come on any late night stylish folk out there? (shouldn't start threads so late at night but I am on my own (bizarre) so won't be able to sleep anyway....)

I find oasis jeans are great. Used to wear gap but they went through on the knees very easily.

littleboo · 21/08/2007 08:50

TK maxx always have a good selection and usually at good prices if you fancy the rumaging. Topshop/gap are good.
Some people really like Dotty P jeans ( don't think theres much else in there personally)

elasticbandstand · 21/08/2007 08:55

i have some fab NExt jeans.. they were not that expesnive

JackieNo · 21/08/2007 08:57

I've heard that Monsoon jeans are good (or Gap, but I seem to remember you don't have one near you). I think the key is to be prepared to try on loads and loads and loads of pairs, till you find the right one (easier said than done with DCs, I know).

Clary · 21/08/2007 09:01

Fab girls
TK Maxx, Oasis and Next are all within a few mins of each other.
May dash out there today for a look. DCs away camping atm so here's a chance.

Funny about you going through Gap knees too cornsilk. It's just the left knee with me, who knows why?

Actually we do have a gap at an "outlet" but because of it being there the stock can be a bit unreliable....

Sorry if you don't have a Gap, but it is worth it...I am a typical British pear shape and Gap's Long and Lean jeans take inches off my arse and thighs. They cost about £45 I think. I've 3 pairs in black and blue...fab!

JARM · 21/08/2007 09:04

Another vote for next. I prefer their high-rise ones to cover tummy!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 21/08/2007 09:05

i can't wear next. they make me look HUGE!
i really like River Island for jeans. always really flattering.

nailpolish · 21/08/2007 09:07

river island gets my vote too
and topshop

cardy · 21/08/2007 09:09

Gap - long and lean are great as are straight leg.

M&S limited collection do nice fitting Jeans too.

Also if you are prepared to pay a bit Diesel are good.

ChristmasPud · 21/08/2007 09:15

I have a big bum and comparatively small waist and have found Monsoon jeans a good fit. Also you can often get them in the sale as I think people tend to think of Monsoon as a shop to buy dresses etc. Have tried Gap in the past and found them to tight in the wrong places and baggy round the waist.

bozza · 21/08/2007 09:18

I find most of the jeans in TKMaxx are for people with an inside leg of about 37"!

Babbit · 21/08/2007 09:22

Another vote for Monsoon. I also have a 'generous' bottom and smaller waist and find these fit well.

themoon66 · 21/08/2007 09:36

Another vote for gap long and lean. Take about half a stone off my arse visually.

Clary · 21/08/2007 10:01

Now y'know ladies we don't have a Monsoon here yet

It opens this October I believe. Clearly I need to be first in the queue for jeans....

Not sure about "long and lean" it hardly describes me!

OP posts:
Notyummy · 21/08/2007 10:04

Thats the point Clary...they make you look 'long and lean' when you are 'average and large-arsed'....(talking about myself, obviously; can't speak for you!)

Clary · 21/08/2007 10:11

OK maybe a trip to Gap outlet is in order.

Lovve Mn - would never try sthg called long and lean if you hadn't all urged me

I have a big bum and small waist, and wear Gap Jeans. Right now I'm in a pair of their men's jeans, which IMO can really work for the big of bottom.

Clary · 21/08/2007 11:38

Hah! Imbarryscott weare clearly clones as I as well as having big bum and small waist also did a phi degree from prestigious uni! Much good that did for me too.

(I'm a lot older than you tho )

I bought a pair of ichi jeans in debenhams which I find fit quite well. They are straight legged.

Clary · 21/08/2007 20:46

Tried on four pairs of jeans in Next in a snatched 10 mins this a/noon. All of them seemed to stop somewhere below my knickers and if I wanted to look like my 18yo nephew I... well I don't really.

Plus they were all too big at the waist anyway (if I can call that the waist - more of a hipst).

This was size 12 but size 10 wd/ve been too small.

This is what I don't want. I want ones that come a bit higher up and sort of fit my waist. Does Monsoon beckon?

Clary · 21/08/2007 20:47

JARM didn't see any high-rise ones but I did dash in and out so may have missed em.
