Victoria’s Secret Sizing Help for DD12

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 23/11/2019 09:00

Hello! I’m going to buy a few Victoria’s Secret bits for DD12 this Christmas. She’s 5’ 2” and normally wears age 12-14 H&M, 12-13 at New Look 915 and Gap girls jeans in age 14.

Any ideas which size VS to get? I was thinking Small but have no idea if their sizes tend to run big or small.

TIA for any help you can give! Smile

For the people who think that VS is all about thongs- they do things like joggers and sweatshirts like this

Definitely get her XS

I am an absolute VS/Pink addict, since I was 13 I've loved their stuff. I've spent a lot of time in America and 90% of my underwear/loungewear is from there.

I would go with small personally unless she likes a baggier fit.

I am a medium in their loungewear and a size 12.

Also, to the posters saying that wouldn't buy their daughters stuff from VS because of the amount of "sexy" stuff. I buy incredibly comfy "normal" knickers and bras from there as their fit and material is like no other. Very comfy and lasts forever. I've got bras that are 4 years old and still feel and wash up like new.

Hope this helps xx

DD is 13 and tiny. She wears a size XS.

She absolutely loves the seam-free briefs. Finds them especially comfortable for sport and dance (and the nude colours great for under dance costumes!)

Fantastic, thanks to all of you who actually answered my question instead of questioning my morals Smile

Take the measurements from some of her current clothes and compare it to the VS womens sizing chart. Or go into H&M and grab something from the age 12-14 section and compare it like for like for something in womens?

Are you aware of the issues currently happening around the company? VS are renown for promoting what you could call 'sexy' lingerie for thin women. They have been called out on the fact that none of their advertising including their runway shows have models that are above a U.K. Size 10. They sell bigger sizes, but don't advertise it. This just perpetuates the belief that only thin women can be seen as attractive. Most people have heard of this brand, but I wonder just how many people know about their Pink range? I just popped over to have a look at what it offered, clicked on cotton 'panties' 🤷🏼‍♀️ And up came thongs. The leggings on the first page of the website are designed to 'show off' bottoms with the extra strips of fabric.
Because they've been called out on the size of the models they use, they have cancelled their latest live show as they didn't want to be forced to use women with curves! We're not talking about obese women, just those who are a size 12 or above. They did have a nod to diversity back in 2002 when one of their models had red hair. Yes, they actually said they were addressing diversity because of this!
Buying from this company is supporting the myth that you need to be a size 10 or under to look good, whether you do it knowingly or not.
There are many other underwear companies out there than sell the same type of teen knickers but without the sexist advertising alongside it.

I’m a size 16 and I’ve got stuff from Pink ( lounge wear)
It’s a popular teen brand and the undies are completely suitable for a 12 year old.

BeatriceTheBeast · 23/11/2019 10:42

Not questioning your morals, just the wording of your thread title which was...unfortunate.

Youngatheart00 · 23/11/2019 10:46

The Pink loungewear is great and sure your DD would love it. I’d go for extra small / small but as others have said, there’s a size guide on website.

EpcotForever · 23/11/2019 10:52

I'd get her an XS

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/11/2019 11:32

My DD likes the VS Pink knickers , I was "No Waaay" spitting my tea put when she asked but she said that "Pink" was for teens , all her friends bought them (of course) and it wasn't Anne Summers y'know .

They are ££ bit very well made , she is a size 8 bottom half and wears an XS .
She's had leggings , tops and PJs , again £ but good quality .
We usually wait for the special offer (5 for £25 or similar) and they do some good offers near Christmas (there was a £20 voucher with a £40 purchase . I was buying her two items over £40 so we queued and paid seperately to get the 2 discounts)

I do wash them in a laundry bag so they don't tangle .

I have told her that Hell Will Freeze Over before I buy her any of the Playboy branded shit from Miss Guided though Hmm

BeatriceTheBeast · 23/11/2019 11:39

Ugh the playboy stuff is so wrong on teenaged girls. Like they're trainees. Vomit.

I knew about Pink from the S&B threads and I still have mixed feelings about it, as if they are trying to sell them the brand from as early an age as possible. I know it's difficult with teenagers to strike the balance between appropriate and cool enough to impress friends etc, but it does make me gip a bit that the same company that is the benchmark for sexiness is targeting teenaged GIRLS ONLY from an early age. Unless someone can tell me the sexy underwear shop targeting young boys.

ec1993 · 23/11/2019 12:01

@Soontobe60 I've fluctuated from a size 8 to a size 14 over the years and then back down again. None of their advertising offends me and I feel comfortable and felt good in their underwear and loungewear no matter what size I've been. I had my chest measured in store last year in Miami and the lady who did that must of been a size 18 at least and looked great. My aunt who is a size 16 buys from there too.

Soontobe60 · 23/11/2019 18:29

I didn't say the advertising was offensive, just that it perpetuates the myth via their lack of diversity that only thin pretty girls should wear their products.
