Frizzy curly hair products

bluebunny123 · 19/11/2019 21:39

Looking for recommendations for products to help stop frizz and to make curly hair actually look nice. My hair is so thick that the curls are like ringlets Confused Once it's brushed it just goes into a weird wave and I can never get it to look nice natural so it's usually scraped up in a bun which looks just as bad.
It's so frizzy that even when I've straightened it the frizz comes through.

Don't use anything on it currently just whatever shampoo and conditioner I grab in the supermarket.
Help me wise style and beauty posters!

Don’t brush it. De tangle with your fingers while it is wet and use a curl cream let it dry naturally. Boots and Superdrug have lots of products you can try.

Get googling the curly girl method and work out what curl type you are, then they have recommendations/reviews for products for that hair type. I use Aussie shampoo, then divacurl conditioner and gel - but you might need something different.

Agree with FeedMeWell - never, ever brush it. Comb through with your fingers or a very wide toothed 'afro' comb, avoid using a towel on it after you have washed it (use an old tee-shirt to soak up the wetness instead) and leave it to dry naturally if you possibly can. Less is more when it comes to fighting the frizz!!

I think my hair is similar to yours. Definitely don't brush it, especially when it is dry! I like cantu curl activator (a tiny bit goes a long way).

Have you tried the curly girl method?

GrandmaSharksDentures · 19/11/2019 22:24

I use products deaigned for Afro - Caribbean women, Superdrug has the best range outside of specialists shops.
Have you been to a curly hair specialist hairdresser? Most hairdressers will cut your hair wet - this doesn't work for curly hair

Also, never brush curly hair.

lexiepuppy · 19/11/2019 23:29

Never brush curly hair.

Use shampoo and conditioner with out sulphates in.
Maui shampoo and conditioner for curls is good.
Definitely look up the Curly girl method.
Use a widetooth comb in the shower with conditioner. Plop hair in a tee shirt.

Lush R& B is good for my curls.

Wow never realised I shouldn't brush it! Shock
Will definitely try that then.

Haven't tried the curly girl method either so I'll take a look online today and see if I can figure it out.

Thanks for all the replies!

Superdrug Shea and castor conditionEr and leave in are good and highly rated on the website. Smell nice and only £5.49 I have used it a couple of times and been impressed at the frizz reduction. I can easily get a comb through my thick curly hair after using this stuff.

AntennaReborn · 20/11/2019 07:54

The curly girl method did nothing for me

I am loving Shea Moisture products at the moment, and the Wella curls mousse

Look out on YouTube for tutorials on "plopping", it's a game changer!

Tigi curls rock products are good, in particular the shampoo and conditioner and amplifier ( use only a squirt on your hand and run through the ends of hair)

bluebunny123 · 20/11/2019 10:32

@AntennaReborn plopping what a name Grin

Will get online today and have a look at all these products you're all recommending
