Facial regime for pre teen

My dd is 11 and beginning to get a spotty nose (those under the skin ones). I'm 46 and only just begun to look after my skin so what I use would be completely inappropriate for her. I had bad acne as a teen and again in my 20s and never really knew what to do other than burn my face off on boiling water and soap, or use topical antibiotics and my skin is incredibly scarred. I'm VERY keen to be able to help her (and my boys) look after their skin from a young age and avoid spots (although of course would go to GP if it required).

Is there anything my daughter can use which will help the spotty nose and just generally keep her skin in good health? What have you beauty experts used for your pre teen and young teen children?

I use Neutrogena Visibly Clear spit proofing daily wash. The important ingredient is salicylic acid which penetrates oil and breaks it down. Ideal as an initial preventative wash and easily available. I use it on my son and it’s helpful at keeping at bay those initial blemishes they get at that age. I also find it’s not too drying on the skin.

Thanks. Will do. I think she's not too sensitive add she often messed about with moisturisers I've abandoned and seems fine but she doesn't use anything for more than a couple of days.

Have a look at Effaclar by La Roche Posay

Thanks. Will take a look. Is a facial wash and moisturiser necessary? No moisturiser? Sun cream even in winter? Etc.

My 11 year old daughter use witch doctor stuff as it's quite mild but works (and doesn't smell). She uses the solid stick when she gets a spot which clears it up quickly and the overnight serum which really prevents them but doesn't dry her skin out. I got both in superdrug

Liz Earle wash and cloths

Please don't use anything harsh like some of the things mentioned above. I would recommend she washes her face twice a day with a clean flannel, warm water and something like Cerave SA cleanser which will help with any spots. Again, Cerave make a very simple moisturiser which I would recommend. Step up the salicylic acid with something like a liquid "toner" or gel (Paula's choice would be my suggestion) if spots persist (use only in required areas).

DD 13.5 has acne and sees a consultant. In addition to the drugs/prescription treatment they recommended Cerave oil free face wash which seems to suit DD's skin.

They also recommended Effaclar but we had tried that before referral, it was too harsh/much too drying for DD's sensitive skin.

Expensive trail and error unfortunately OP!

Is witch hazel harsh?? It's natural, doesn't dry her skin out like salicylic acid would
