As per the title really, am getting some nasty flare ups at the moment. Don't have much to spend but would like to try something new!

The one by CeraVe is actually really good for its price!

SandAndSea · 15/11/2019 17:27

I'm just wonduring if a big pot of shea butter or coconut oil (or similar) would do the job? You could stir in some essential oils.

SandAndSea · 15/11/2019 17:27
  • wonduring?? You know what I mean.
Houseworkavoider · 15/11/2019 17:29

I really like the one I’ve just bought from lidl. I think it was £3/4 and called aqua something.
I find using a good cream with a facial oil really helps. I use tissue masks for a real boost.

The best I've found is the garnier extra dry skin one. In a big red bottle.

I know tesco do it.

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/11/2019 17:31

Astral.

Hydro Expert Aqua Gel! It goes for £2.99 IIRC.

Childs Farm

TheFlis12345 · 15/11/2019 17:35

A friend with eczema swears by Avenida.

TheFlis12345 · 15/11/2019 17:35

Argh, autocorrect, Aveno!

Throughabushbackwards · 15/11/2019 17:39

Aveeno here too.

totallyradllama · 15/11/2019 17:45

Yy to aveeno but the original cream or the hand cream not the lotion. You can get the cream in a pump some places

Auntyfannybaws · 15/11/2019 17:50

I have bad excema on face. Iv tried avenno, child's farm, coconut oil, diprobase, double base, lush dream cream, I could go on. The best by a country mile is Nivea in the blue tub, amazing.

doadeer · 15/11/2019 17:50

Astral always!

fedup21 · 15/11/2019 17:51

Aveeno in the pump bottle. Brilliant for DS with eczema

Ohyesiam · 15/11/2019 17:55

Aveeno, which is colloidal oatmeal.

You can also put oats in a sock and tie it under the tap as you run a bath. It makes the most moisturising and soothing way for eczema prone skin.

It’s the only thing that calmed dds very dry eczema and left her skin really quenched.

Sooverthemill · 15/11/2019 18:07

@ohyesiam my DD had a severe allergic reaction to Aveeno. Child's farm, cerave, dermal range, moo goo are better

ArfArfBarf · 15/11/2019 18:08

Assuming you mean body and not face, I second CeraVe moisturising cream. I alternate between that and Aveeno Dermexa depending on which is cheaper.
Both are the perfect consistency imo.

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/11/2019 18:28

For face or body OP?

Not a bargain (but is for me as I swear by it) but eucerin 5% urea face cream is my go to in a crisis, it really helps, sinks in amazingly, no stinging and isn't greasy so I can wear makeup on top. I also wash with extra virgin olive oil or jojoba oil mixed with some water when in a skin crisis. If you get dry hands too honestly- stick some oil on them, run them under a warm tap, rub in/rinse and pat dry. Lifesaver.

For body my favourite is the garnier intensive 7 days ultra replenishing lotion - the shea or coconut ones are bloody brilliant, and cheap. I prefer them to aveeno for my body.

Floralnomad · 15/11/2019 18:32

I would also recommend CeraVe , and a little goes a long way . My daughter has also used mine and she’s even fine with it and she reacts to practically everything.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 15/11/2019 18:35

My face mainly, should have said that. Thanks v much for responses. I haven't really had it since a child but the last few weeks have been an itchy hell 😂

Agree with posters who suggested Astral

ArfArfBarf · 15/11/2019 18:58

For face I really like La Roche Posay Toleraine Ultra Nuit but at £20 a smallish tube it’s not cheap.

Vegheaven · 16/11/2019 09:38

Have used Aveeno to moisturise my eczema for 20 years, I use it all over my body, including my face - it suits my skin. I usually have a tube in kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and the car it is my savior.

albicocca · 16/11/2019 10:06

I've just discovered CeraVe moisturising cream. £4 for 50ml (which is the size of a standard pot of face cream). www.lookfantastic.com/cerave-moisturising-cream-50ml/11798694.html Very rich and hydrating and has other goodies in it like ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Developed for v dry sensitive skin. Bargainous. Even more bargainous if you buy it in a bigger tube. I tried the lotion version too but it was too light for my dry skin.
